À propos de ce logement

Secluded log home in West Virginia - exposed white pine log beams, nice view of surrounding mountains, large fire pit, 3 bedroom 2 bath (sleeps up to 10), beautiful great room with gas fireplace. The Lost River area has several attractions for weekend visitors.

Le logement

The full-length front porch is a very enjoyable space to gaze across the mountain and down to the two spring-fed ponds. House has easy access to the George Washington National Forest, and features a large in-ground fire pit to gather around. Approx. 2,300 square feet and sits on 9 acres.

1st bedroom has a queen bed, 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds, 3rd upstairs bedroom also has 2 twin beds. For larger groups 2 roll-away beds are in the basement, and 2 cots with mattresses are in the open loft - see photos.

Please note: There is no cell reception or wifi at the cabin. We have a landline telephone you can use if needed; nearby Wardensville has good cell reception and a shop with wifi.

The great room is the main attraction with comfortable couches, a dining area, big screen TV w/ DVD player (no cable), and gas fireplace.

Kitchen is stocked with essential staples and available for cooking - stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and plenty of space in freezer and fridge. The dining area is next to the kitchen.

One bath on main floor (hairdryer, clean towels & sheets provided), 2nd bath is downstairs (concrete floor walkout basement). Utility room with washer and dryer also downstairs. We have central heating and A/C.

Outside has a large front yard leading down to the ponds, a fire pit, and a charcoal grill for guests to use.

Our family has owned this as a vacation home for the last eleven years and enjoy our extended weekend trips to our cabin. We live in Baltimore and nearby in the Shenandoah Valley of VA. The cabin is located 2 hours from DC.

*The Neighborhood*
Cabin is in a small neighborhood with lots of wooded area between homes. George Washington National Forest trail entrance is located within walking distance, ~400 yards away.

The closest small town is Wardensville, WV located 9 miles away, with shops and a few restaurants - we recommend the Lost River Brewing Company. Swimming (white-sand beach) is available at the Trout Pond Recreational Area (2.5 miles from cabin), which also includes lakeside trails, fishing, and a children's playground.

Please note: our neighborhood trash cans are at the entrance to our road, not beside the house. So at the end of your trip we do ask that you carry your trash bags to the can.

The perfect place for an escape from the city. The property was exactly as advertised with a perfect outdoor space for hanging out by the firepit, grilling, playing cornhole, and enjoying being in this remote area. The interior of the cabin impressed us past what we were expecting -- the amenities were quite comfortable and the home was well stocked with more essentials and goods than we had anticipated! Andrew is a great host -- communicated with us well and clearly up to the trip. We'll be back for sure!

This was our second stay at the cabin and it was even better than the first. Weather was dreary, but the cabin's proximity to outdoor recreational areas let us hike and swim for a few hours while the weather was clear. When it was raining, we were close enough to Wardensville and Lost City to visit some local establishments for shopping and drinks. That said, we could have easily spent our entire weekend indoors enjoying the quiet, playing games and cooking on the fire. The cabin is perfect for small groups, but also provides plenty of space for larger groups.

What a comfortable cabin in the woods - a perfect place to get away. Even better than the reviews.

Andrew's log cabin was perfect for our family of five and puppy dog. It was quiet and peaceful and large enough for everyone to have space if they wanted it. The cabin was well equipped with everything that we needed and the ping pong table in the basement was a great surprise. Both kids and adults enjoyed playing. Andrew was easy to communicate with and the house instrutctions were well laid out and easy to follow. Overall, a great place to stay!

This is the second time I have stayed at this cabin. It is a wonderful place if you want to take a break and get away for a while. It is nicely secluded, but not too far away from town if you need to run out to the grocery store. The cabin is huge and is great if you have a large group of people. Everything you could need is provided. There is great hiking in the area as well, with beautiful lookouts. I highly recommend staying here.

Andrew was an excellent host. He left clear instructions and everything was exactly as stated in the posting. The views were incredible. The couches were comfy. We played tons of good board games (he has a pretty good selection) and cooked lots of yummy food. Definitely come prepared with most of your cooking essentials because it is a bit of a trip down to Wardensville to stock up. We did go down one day and had a delicious meal at the brewery and some tasty coffee at the Lost River Trading Post. There is no Internet at the cabin, but that just helped us be present with each other and truly getaway for a fresh start to the new year. We definitely recommend Andrew's cabin!
