Secluded log home in West Virginia - exposed white pine log beams, nice view of surrounding mountains, large fire pit, 3 bedroom 2 bath (sleeps up to 10), beautiful great room with gas fireplace. The Lost River area has several attractions for weekend visitors.
The full-length front porch is a very enjoyable space to gaze across the mountain and down to the two spring-fed ponds. House has easy access to the George Washington National Forest, and features a large in-ground fire pit to gather around. Approx. 2,300 square feet and sits on 9 acres.
1st bedroom has a queen bed, 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds, 3rd upstairs bedroom also has 2 twin beds. For larger groups 2 roll-away beds are in the basement, and 2 cots with mattresses are in the open loft - see photos.
Please note: There is no cell reception or wifi at the cabin. We have a landline telephone you can use if needed; nearby Wardensville has good cell reception and a shop with wifi.
The great room is the main attraction with comfortable couches, a dining area, big screen TV w/ DVD player (no cable), and gas fireplace.
Kitchen is stocked with essential staples and available for cooking - stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and plenty of space in freezer and fridge. The dining area is next to the kitchen.
One bath on main floor (hairdryer, clean towels & sheets provided), 2nd bath is downstairs (concrete floor walkout basement). Utility room with washer and dryer also downstairs. We have central heating and A/C.
Outside has a large front yard leading down to the ponds, a fire pit, and a charcoal grill for guests to use.
Our family has owned this as a vacation home for the last eleven years and enjoy our extended weekend trips to our cabin. We live in Baltimore and nearby in the Shenandoah Valley of VA. The cabin is located 2 hours from DC.
Cabin is in a small neighborhood with lots of wooded area between homes. George Washington National Forest trail entrance is located within walking distance, ~400 yards away.
The closest small town is Wardensville, WV located 9 miles away, with shops and a few restaurants - we recommend the Lost River Brewing Company. Swimming (white-sand beach) is available at the Trout Pond Recreational Area (2.5 miles from cabin), which also includes lakeside trails, fishing, and a children's playground.
Please note: our neighborhood trash cans are at the entrance to our road, not beside the house. So at the end of your trip we do ask that you carry your trash bags to the can.

I live in Mt Vernon, Baltimore. I work in technology within the greater Baltimore / DC area... I enjoy the outdoors and traveling when I get free time.
