Onsite hosts, Anne and Chris Reimer share their property with guests, assist with guided snowmobile tours, hiking, ski trips and sight seeing.

Big Powderhorn resort area offers free shuttle to bars/restaurants around the village. Convenience store at the base of the hill offers take and bake pizzas, groceries and sundries. Black River Valley Pub and Grub across the street and Alpen Inn on the ski hill offer great food and entertainment.

Indianhead ski resort, Black Jack, Whitecap all nearby. Snowmobiling out the door and onto the trails plus back country tours available upon request.

Book a room or the entire lodge - Rooms are all different, priced from $80+ and accommodate from 2 people to a whole family.

Dogs allowed if trained, with guests during the day and night and socialized with other dogs and safe with kids. Dogs are accommodated on a limited basis so please check with us as to availability.

Rooms have TV/dvd upon request. Rec Room has wi-fi and cable TV, films, dvd's upon request and fireplace.

Hosts Anne & Chris will provide breakfast on Saturdays with a weekend stay.

Lodge has alot of common areas, grilling space, deck, rec room, kitchen shared by guests, byob bar area and sitting rooms with TV/Cable. Typically ski/snowboard videos playing in bar, current winter events streaming in rec room.

Hosts, Chris and Anne have been running the Lodge for years and are still exploring the area. Join us on an adventure or share your own. We'll share all the information we have on the area and have an Adventure Guide binder in the dining area to help plan your day.

Located at Big Powderhorn, Powder Hound Lodge is nestled among Bavarian style chalets with view of the ski runs. Back country snowmobile and hiking guides available upon request. We're on the Black River Scenic Byway that runs past Copper Peak Ski Flying Hill, 5 stunning waterfalls along the edge of the Ottawa National Forest and ends at Lake Superior and Black River Harbor. There's never a shortage of things to do at the Lodge. Typically, everyone staying here congregates and shares stories of their adventures in the byob bar adjacent to the rec room. It's a social place where you'll be sure to make friends. We have 10 rooms total, sleep 30 - 40. We have alot of people who come in groups of 2 - 4 and plenty who organize 40 - 50. We have access to adjacent chalets for rent as well, so can accommodate groups of any size using the Lodge as the hub of activity.

Driving around Ironwood, Bessemer and the surrounding area is small town, 1 light, easy. Free shuttle from our place to Big Powderhorn Ski Resort and the area restaurants available for the immediate village (Pub, Alpen Inn, Ski Resort restaurant and bars). Taxi service is available both cars and 15 person van. Please don't drink & drive. There are alot of other options.

Fishing licenses and snowmobile trail passes available at Holiday Gas Stations on Hwy 2 in Ironwood and Wakefield (located at the only stop light in both towns.)

Règlement intérieur

Unfortunately, with the nature of our place, we do not accommodate pets. It's for the comfort of all of our guests. Primarily because we have dogs ourselves (sometimes at the Lodge, sometimes next door) and other pups tend to behave differently when making themselves at home in another dog's house.
No smoking inside the lodge at any time. Not in rooms, common area, not in the byob bar area even though it may appear with open air that it's possible. Smokers welcome but only smoking in designated areas outside away from open windows.
Kids - The Lodge is a great place to spread out and be in your own space but please have adult supervision morning and night. Mornings especially, no one wants to wake up to crashing pool balls or running in the rec room.
Kids/Hot Tub - please have an adult with your kids when in the hot tub area. No running or roughhousing in hot tub area. 8 people allowed in hot tub at a time and even if it's kids, it's a tight squeeze. More than that - and roughhousing- splashes water out of the tub to where the pump starts sucking air and the hot tub breaks. That's why we put the rule in place.
Pool table opens when all guests are awake or by noon. Hot tub and pool close at 10 pm. Quiet time after 10 if other guests are sharing the lodge. If you rent the place out, you can be as loud as you want as late as you want.
Most people visit for the recreation and hit the trails early. However, in the event we have late sleepers....
Please if you know you're an early riser and heading out early - then please don't park your sled right under someone's window. Park away from the rooms. If early morning... Warm up and head out. We had issues (one time) with sleds playing in the front yard at a rather early hour. With non-snowmobilers staying the night. So, now we encourage riding all over the property when all guests are awake or after 9:00 a.m. Most guests are up & out when the ski lifts open or early for back country riding.

We have teenagers (college age) and love to have teen visitors. When a carload of teens visit, there's a 2-night minimum. We want you to relax and get some sleep at least the night before heading home. You'll be happy you stayed the extra night. And, Yes, we have wi-fi - you'll stay connected.
