Hello, my name is Joao (aka John) and I am a Brazilian living in Sao Paulo. I am a lover of languages, films, and travelling. I work as a self-employed translator (Portuguese/English) and I own a small translating business with a partner. I go to the movies at least three times a week and I like mostly films that make you think and leave the cinema with something to reflect on. I do not enjoy American blockbusters. As a typical Sagittarian, I also love travelling and I´ve visited several foreign countries, including many places in Brazil. I love getting to know different people, cultures and places, especially those of Asia. I am very respectful and appreciative of the diversity that exists in the world. I also believe we can change the society we live in by contributing to making it better. Therefore, I am connected to an NGO and groups that promote the Culture of Peace and the Gandhian tenet of non-violence and ethic of love. I also work as a conflict mediator on a volunteer basis. My favourite quotes are "We must become the change we want to see in the world" (Gandhi) and "I am the captain of my soul and master of my fate" (Mandela).
