Welcome to our 'ohana! We'd love to host you in our newly-remodeled guesthouse and we hope you love our island as much as we do. Relax and settle in with our welcome basket of goodies. Unlike many rentals in Puna, we are ON-GRID with reliable electric service and safe, clean municipal water.

The listed booking price includes a 4% State of Hawai'i General Excise Tax (GET) and 10% Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT). We are required to notify you that these have been collected and paid.

Le logement
The cottage is equipped with a full kitchen, including refrigerator, two-burner gas stove, double sink, coffee maker, microwave, and blender - plus all the basic kitchenware you’ll need to prepare meals. It also has a full bathroom with step-in shower, and a small closet. An outdoor shower is available for rinsing off after hiking or the beach. Our home is on the property, but the cottage is all yours - come and go as you please.

Accès des voyageurs
Feel free to enjoy our tropical garden. During some seasons, fresh bananas, avocados, oranges, lemons, or lychee will be ripe and available to share. Take a break in the shade of our mature trees and watch the many birds that visit our area, including some endemic birds that are found nowhere else in the world. While relaxing, learn to play the traditional ukulele.

Autres remarques
Need laundry? Simply fill the basket in your unit and set it out for us - we'll take care of the rest. We'd be happy to wash and dry one load for stays 3-5 days and 2 loads for stays 6-10 days. No delicates or special handling, please. We use hypoallergenic soap, warm wash, and permanent press dry.

Our home is in Hawaiian Beaches, a mostly-locals neighborhood. We're just a few minutes from Pāhoa town, where you’ll find restaurants, shops, and a funky vibe. For local music and dancing, everyone goes to the Wednesday night market at Uncle Robert's Awa Bar in Kalapana. Check out Maku’u Farmers’ Market - the best this side of the Island! If you prefer a quieter experience, we're close to many secluded swimming spots, as well as a brand-new black sand beach created by the recent eruption. The popular Puna Trail, ending at a remote beach, begins just a few miles away.

Need more recommendations for off-the-beaten-path activities and secret, locals-only spots? Just ask your hosts. We'd be happy to give you directions!

Aloha! I'm Cheryl! I love birds, hiking, and the beach. My favorite fruit is mai'a (bananas), but I also grow avocados, pineapple, and many other fruits at home. My family is hapa Filipino, and both my parents were born on the Big Island. Family is important to me, as well as taking care of the environment (malama 'aina) and preserving my culture. I'd love to teach you a few words in Hawaiian ('olelo Hawai'i) or a song on the ukulele. I can't wait to share my home with you and I hope you love our island as much as I do!
