This was the second time I ever rented my house through airbnb and I informed my other tenant carefully that I could not check the house before their arrival because me and my wife gave birth to children at the hospital much earlier than expected, I thought it was too short notice to cancel. Nevertheless, I personally went home to the tenant with clean bedding when clean towels were already supposed to be in the house.
The former tenant promised to clean the house carefully because I would not get to the house before the others showed up. But the cleaning was never done and the house was dirty when the new guests checked in.
They immediately contacted me and AirBnb about this and they ended up cleaning the house because I could not leave the hospital.
The tenant was compensated with 50% of the rent due to this. The tenant had already tried to bargain a LOT for my price before they even moved in and received a further discount.
We agreed to meet at the house before they were checking out just to talk about what happened but they chose to go much earlier than agreed.
When I later went to the house I got a shock, it was dirty even though they claimed they had cleaned the house several times, my eldest son's things were all around the house, things were ruined, the garbage left, beers missing from the fridge etc .. Those who complained so much on just everything and pruning on the price as well as being replaced by half the rent were not better themselves!
When I contact the two tenants and ask about this, they just blame each other and got angry with me because i was asking all these questions.
I hope my continued time with tenants on AirBnb will be more successful.
I have to be more careful about who I rent my beautiful house in the future!
