Anne, thank you very much for your feedback! It is valuable information for people who are unfamiliar with the Keweenaw to know how the seasons differ greatly.
Not only the obvious weather differences, but the quiet -vs- busier times. For example, the restaurant in town is open 7 days a week from Memorial Day until late October and then again after Christmas through the snowmobile season (normally mid-March or after the local dog-sled race). Busiest seasons are July - September when the Historical aspects of the area are highlighted. Colors in early October also draws crowds. But the truth is that Eagle Harbor is never truly busy like Copper Harbor down the road, except for the first week in July (4th) and two weeks in August (Pig-roast and Art Fair). The quietest times are November through the Holidays and then again in Spring until Memorial Day.
The snowsport is certainly more variable depending of the conditions. The downhill skiing is currently still really good at the local hill (Bohemia) as the colder temperatures has maintained the base there; however, the local X-country trails quit grooming in early March if there is no new substantial snow. I am glad that you discovered the great trail systems in Calumet and at Michigan Tech!
