This classic Vermont farm estate has everything that description implies: end-of-the-road privacy with breathtaking views, where the only sound is the wind rustling through the leaves. The manicured gardens, stone walls and quaint but luxurious home seem plucked from classic American folklore. Guests can drink their morning coffee while soaking in views of rolling pastures and forested hills, and spend their days exploring the property's trails, and the beautiful towns and countryside nearby.

Le logement
Pass the day by the small private pond or historic barns. Wander the seemingly endless pastures, explore the old farmstead foundations, or hike through the dense woodlands of our farm. The property’s 130+ acres abut Dartmouth’s 700-acre conservation lands, and the end-of-the-road location affords our visitors the utmost privacy. Capable of comfortably hosting 8 people, the 1,500 square foot guest house boats 2 spacious bedrooms, 2 lofted bunk areas as well as 3 full bathrooms. Opportunities for outdoor adventures including (trail and road) running, (road and off-road) biking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing onsite or nearby. In the spring and summer, blooms abound, and in the autumn, the foliage is incomparable.

Though the retreat is in farmlands and feels rustic –– every luxury is also at your fingertips, from the highest quality beds and bedding and thick and absorbent towels, to the petite but thoroughly outfitted chef’s kitchen. You’ll also find custom-made reproduction beds in the two masters, and lovely antiques and oriental rugs scattered around, and a beautiful Steinway baby grand straight from the Aspen School of music.

Hole up with your friends or family for a countryside retreat, host an intimate farm side wedding or event (extra charges apply for events –– please contact us in advance for details), or bask in the abundance of nature in this classic country Cape residence. The home has every amenity you could want for any season: books and games, a flat screen TV with Apple TV and DVD player, (slow-ish but perfectly serviceable) Wi-Fi, a pool (at the main house; open seasonally, and available for use at additional charge), sleds, a gas grill, and a full-size in-house washer and dryer for cleaning up.

Whether you’re curling up at the large Rumford fireplace for a quiet romantic night in, escaping the world to finish reading (or writing) your novel, romping through the woods with your kids, or cooking a gourmet dinner in the beautiful little chef’s kitchen, this home has all of the makings for a magical getaway.

The guest house sleeps up to 8 people as follows:
• The Upper Master bedroom has 1 queen bed and 2 twins in an attached open loft in the vaulted ceiling area (with its own - and only - secret entrance from the main landing your kids will love!), and an en-suite bathroom, all of which makes it perfect for families with kids.
• The Lower Master bedroom 2 has 1 queen bed, an en-suite bathroom, doors that open onto the patio for direct outside access and is the most private of the spaces.
• The Loft bedroom is accessed by ladder from the living room (which it is open to). It has 2 twin beds, a full bathroom accessed from the Living Room (down the ladder), and is probably best suited to older kids or young-feeling adults.

Each main bedroom is on its own level, down the stairs from the living spaces, one below the other – they’re not different enough to fight over, so you can just pick whichever you like. The shared kitchen/dining area on its own level as well, for maximum privacy.

Do you need space for more folks? Or is the Guest House booked, but you really need to get away? If so, please check out our other listing - The Barn Loft at Chandlery Farm (which is just up the hill from the guest house on the property - maybe 100 yards away - so you'll have proximity and privacy! You can find it on AirBNB - listing number 32257042

Où se situe le logement

Corinth, Vermont, États-Unis

There is SO MUCH beauty close to the farm. Beautiful small towns like Strafford, Norwich and Chelsea are nearby, and Barre, Montpelier, Woodstock and Hanover offer shopping and restaurants - all are about 40-50 minutes away, via stunning scenic drives. Just a little further away, Burlington is amazing, and the Shelburne Museum is one of the most eclectic - and best - museums in the country (for all ages).

The closest convenience store is 5 min away in East Corinth (at the East Corinth Store). Bradford has a great grocery store (Hannaford) and restaurants, and is about 20 min away.

If you're here on Saturday in the summer, be sure to hit Crossmolina Farm's Pizza night - it's outdoors, really good fresh pizza (all fresh and local), usually has great live music, and is an awesome way to meet some locals.

More details:
If you love to walk, bike, hike or cross-country ski or snowshoe, the fields and trails (both onsite and nearby) are wonderful. Please bring necessary clothing and equipment or make plans to rent them. Our grounds, of which a great portion is in permanent conservation, connect to the 700-acre Dartmouth Land Trust. You will be provided with a basic map in your welcome email. (Please stick to the trails and paths and refrain from picking flowers. These guidelines help to preserve this beautiful untouched land.) The surrounding area is great for mountain biking (or road biking - just keep in mind that the paved road starts about a half-mile from the house) - so do bring your bikes!

Hiking Areas Nearby
• Wrights Mountain Trailhead: (Bradford): This is a wonderful hike. It takes approximately 20 minutes to reach the overlook/summit from the parking area on Wright's Mt road. Incredibly beautiful view from this location.
• Pinnacle Meadows, Stowe Land Trust: (Stowe) Protected area of undeveloped land with several trails through forests with lookout spots.
• Bald Top Mountain Trail: (Fairlee) – a 3.7 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Fairlee, Vermont that features beautiful wild flowers and a nice summit view
• Sleepers Meadow: (Bradford) – pretty meadow trail
• White Mountain Forest: (NH – 40-90 mi east) – full of amazing trails and activities on ‘our’ side, or cross Franconia Notch so see Mount Washington and the famous Cog Railway.

Local Skiing:
Northeast Slopes is a small local family-style ski area and a Corinth tradition! They are located on Route 25 between the Waits River Country Store and East Corinth General Store.
10397 VT Rte. 25, East Corinth, VT 05040

With a breathtaking view of Mt. Moosilauke from the top, and compact but varied terrain, Northeast Slopes has something for everyone. Northeast Slopes has 12 trails on more than 35 skiable acres with a vertical height of 360′ and 3 surface lifts, including the new T-bar.
Skiers and boarders with more experience enjoy NES because the main ski tow—and now the T-bar—access a wide selection of rolling groomed trails as well as challenging steeps, glades, jumps and a fun terrain park.
Beginners enjoy Northeast Slopes because its “junior” ski tow provides easy access to gentle terrain that is set apart from the main slope’s skier traffic. This makes learning to ski or ride a fun and non-threatening experience.
Pro-tip: You’ll need leather gloves (for the rope tow!) and it’s bring-your-own skis. Let us know in advance if you plan to ski on your trip but do not have skis of your own, we are happy to help coordinate rentals for you.
Of course, Stow, Killington, and more are all within an hour or two.

The VAST Trail
It’s like the Appalachian Trail for snowmobiles! Our property runs next to the trail (route 25 and 25A), which includes thousands of miles through the stunning Vermont countryside. Trail conditions are updated regularly at the trail’s site.
Here are the requirements for what you need to ride snowmobiles on the VAST trail in the state of Vermont:
1. Registered and Insured Snowmobile
2. Club membership
3. AVAST TMA (trail pass) through the club of your choice (you will have the option to choose a club to join when you purchase your TMA online – club dues are included in the cost)
4. If you were born after July 1, 1983, you will need to take a safety course in order to ride in Vermont.

Biking
Our low-traffic local roads are great for road bikes (although please note that they’re not always perfectly paved – lots of freeze/thaw here.
There are many local gravel forest roads that are great for mountain biking. Please bring your bikes, or you can rent here:
1. Bicycle Express in Waterbury (about one-hour west):
2. Vermont Bikes in Barre (35 min west):

We love to travel, and have travelled all over the world (both my wife and I, and we’re often joined by our three adult children). We often use AirBNB, because it’s so much easier to enjoy a place or culture by immersing oneself in the community. We also list our homes, so appreciate both sides of the process.

Pendant votre séjour

Guests can expect complete privacy. The owners and their property managers live nearby and will be available for questions or concerns via text. They will also be available via email or landline for any questions which may arise. Keep in mind that there is almost no cell service in our area, so our response times will vary depending on when folks are near wi-fi.

And the property owners are often (but not always) on-site in the main residence - down the hill - we're friendly folks and pretty social, but recognize that some may come here for solitude...we let our guests guide that process.

In addition to being a retreat, the Chandlery Estate is also a working farm and a private residence. There may be other people on the property throughout the day; the owners and their dogs (all friendly, but one can be barky around strangers), neighbors hiking or riding their horses or mountain bikes through to the connecting trails, or farmers working around the property. You may occasionally hear the sounds of chickens, tractors running, mowing (there's lots of grass!), or a cow mooing (as we have a neighbor's cattle on the property during parts of the year to keep the pastures healthy). That being said, due to the remote nature of our property, these kinds of disruptions are the exception, not a regular occurrence, and (we hope) are more charming than irritating.
