Wood trim and hardwood floors accentuate the "beach" feeling. The light flooding through the skylight and windows is a perfect accompaniment to the sound of the ocean surf. The upper level deck is an ideal location to feel the sea breeze as you enjoy a glass of wine with friends or family.

Beautifully situated in the Neahkahnie neighborhood adjacent to Manzanita, you are a just a short 5-7 minute stroll to seven miles of beautiful beach. Long considered one of the finest beaches on the north Oregon coast, Neahkahnie/Manzanita beaches offer a pristine expanse of sand where you can stroll in the surf, start a beach fire, build a sandcastle, play bocce ball or just lie in the sun and let your cares drift away. When you are ready for a more social experience take a walk or short drive into the town of Manzanita and visit one of the great restaurants, have a beverage at the San Dune Tavern, visit the many shops and boutiques or treat yourself to a spa treatment. Manzanita is a special town with "hole in the doughnut" weather. When the weather closes in to the north and south, Manzanita often stays dry and pleasant.
You are just a short drive to the north from Cannon Beach where you can explore the shops and art galleries. Just a few miles further and you arrive in Seaside where you can board a helicopter for a family tour of the coast or continue on to Astoria where you can watch the daily rhythm of an active port or retrace the final steps of Lewis and Clark. To the south lies Tillamook, Oregon's dairyland, lighthouses, rocky capes, and fresh oysters.
If you choose not to travel far from home you can crab or kayak in Nehalem Bay, golf in Manzanita, surf at Oswald West State Park or hike Neahkahnie Mountain - the Oregon coast's highest peak. All within just a few miles.

**FYI, this home is superbly located in Neahkahnie neighborhood, adjacent to Manzanita (NOT in Nehalem although that is the legal postal address and you will want to use that for navigation directions)**
We're so pleased to have you as guests! Please follow these few rules:
*Please- No Smoking in the house or on the deck.
*Be respectful of noise levels and neighbors. No events without prior notification to the hosts.
*Four cars maximum. Park only parallel to house and adjacent vacant lot, careful not to block easement road for adjacent neighbors (there are four houses on our “block").
*Dogs welcome by prior arrangement, two maximum, with assumption that dogs are well behaved/non-barkers, additional fee may apply. Please do not leave your dog unattended at the house where they may miss you and therefore bark or become destructive...and please don't lock your dog in a room as this makes them unhappy...we have needed to repair door scratches in our woodwork due to this. Woof.
*If you use cosmetic products like PROACTIVE, please exercise care. It is extremely easy to stain towels and bedding with these cosmetics. A small amount will cause a large bleach like stain.
*CRAB:Please buy your crab cooked or take care to boil outside so that the smell isn't overwhelming for the next guests
*Monday is trash pick-up day- please have your trash out Monday morning (even if it is a non-departure day). Secure the trashcan lid -there are clever and determined raccoons nearby.
*Use fireplace and fire-pit with great care. Fires should never be left unattended. EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION with the fire-pit. Please do not make large fires with big flames and do consider the wind speeds prior to deciding to make a fire. FYI, there will be times, usually in the summer/fall, when fires both in fireplace and pit are not allowed.
*If you do laundry during your stay, please do not overload the washer! In turn, overloading the dryer ensures that items will be damp versus fully dry. Thank you!
*** PRIOR TO DEPARTURE: We want you to enjoy your final morning at the beach! To that end, we have limited check-out duties and do NOT require that you cycle the loads of laundry (we know it can be time consuming); Do please complete the following prior to your departure:
*Strip all used sheets and place in laundry basket atop washer. If a tablecloth or towel has a stain that may set please do take care to pre-treat any stains before stain sets in. (Dawn liquid in the laundry cabinet works well)
*Load and run the dishwasher. Clean any pots & pans and put away. (a nice courtesy and necessary so food doesn't attract ants or harden)
*Empty refrigerator of your personal items; Check that garbage disposal is clear of food in trap
* Please do not empty the ice bin into your travel cooler. This leaves no ice for the next guests. Ice may be purchased at the store off 101 for a nominal charge. Thank you.
* Ensure any fires in fireplace or fire-pit are completely extinguished. Do NOT close the flue if there is any chance embers are burning!
*In winter: Set heat to 55 degrees at thermostat: simply arrow down to 55 degrees and press HOLD
*Take inside garbage bag to exterior big can. Recycling should be left in the house, inside of/near the black plastic recycling bin next to the kitchen trashcan
* If you used the BBQ, Double-check propane tank OFF and Cover BBQ
* Make sure that stove top burners & the oven are OFF. It is very easy to accidentally turn the oven on when wiping down the stovetop controls so please double-check.
*Turn off all lights (even if some were on when you arrived). Close all windows (even if some were open when you arrived!), Lock lower exterior and front doors.
*Return key to lockbox AND if you have used the spare key hanging just inside the front door, return it to it's hook.

We're so delighted to be able to share our place with you. Manzanita/Neahkahnie is our favorite spot, our home away from Portland. I've spent my life on the west coast - first, in my home state of California (which I left decades ago but hold dear to my heart) and then Ashland where I spent many happy years working as a stage manager for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF). When OSF expanded to Portland, I moved north and spent years at OSF Portland, later Portland Center Stage. Theatre is still close to my heart but my vocation morphed after an interest in Portland's unique neighborhoods and wonderful architecture evolved into my becoming a licensed Realtor. I feel blessed to have found a second career I could love and now, almost 20 years later, still enjoy the challenge, creativity and honor of helping people make a move.
My sweet husband Steve hails from the Midwest, growing up in Wisconsin and later living in Iowa and Illinois. He's a self-employed general contractor who especially enjoys creating arbors, fencing and decking projects. He's always enjoyed long distance bicycle rides, both in big events like Iowa's week-long RAGBRAI and in smaller groups like riding with his best friend from Glacier National Park to the Oregon Coast. We share a love for our big hearted dog Roscoe, a red heeler+yellow lab+? mix we adopted when his family could no longer keep him. He is, simply put, 65 lbs of pure lap dog love.
Together, the three of us enjoy camping & road trips and of course, our time together at the Oregon Coast.... which brings us to the real reason you are here. Anybody who comes to the Northern Oregon Coast knows it is a special place...and for those who've been lucky enough to discover Manzanita they know, too that it holds a singular attraction...add to that the magic of Neahkahnie Mountain and you have one perfect destination. Be prepared to relax- the slowing down of one's pulse upon arrival is a palpable experience!
