If you appreciate beauty, inside and out, our rustic-modern cabin is perfect for you. It's cozy enough for 2 and spacious enough for up to 8. The cabin is surrounded by forest and looks out to the meadows and Hills. If you want comfort, outdoor living space, beauty, peace and quiet, we encourage you to come make yourself at home!

Le logement

You'll love the cabin on Bluebird Ridge! It's a beautiful, peaceful refuge where you will enjoy a quiet place to slow down and savor life's simple pleasures. Explore the 5 acre grounds and hundreds of forest service acres surrounding you. No traffic noise...just the sound of the birds and the wind in the pines...even during the Sturgis Rally. Our few 'neighbors' will only be a twinkling light in the distance. Come sit under the canopy of the Milky Way!
You will have access to the entire 1,000 square foot cabin with great outdoor living space on the deck as well as the 5 acre Grounds with your own Fire Pit, 'Kids Koup' playhouse , tree swing and gardens.

Note: 'The Nest' Loft bedroom with King sized bed is for adults ONLY as there is a steep staircase and we don't want children (or elderly guests) getting injured. The cabin is perfect for 2 families when you include the 'Nest'. You can't beat the view of the Hills or the starry night sky from up there!

HORSES WELCOME! We are happy to board your horses in our coral/pasture area for a small fee.

Enjoy some time away from city life and tourist bustle. We are conveniently located 15 minutes from Custer & Wind Cave National Park, 25 minutes from Custer State Park & Crazy Horse, 40 minutes to Mount Rushmore and close to many other attractions! Enjoy hundreds of miles of Forest Service land and trails right out your door! Go four-wheeling, hiking, horseback riding and winter cross-country skiing/snow shoeing.

We are a beautiful, 15 minute drive from town. Four wheel drive is definitely recommended if you are visiting in the winter months. The wonderful, 100-mile Mickelsen Trail weaves all through the Black Hills and is just 10 minutes down the road, so bring your bikes!

When available, you'll arrive to farm fresh eggs in the refrigerator and some fresh garden produce. Nothing like life in the country!

We also have a wonderful, onsite babysitter for those much needed Date nights (in or out!)

If you have horses and would like to board them, we will gladly share our pasture for a small fee. Bring your own hay. Just email or call after you've booked your stay.

Accès des voyageurs

I'm not going to repeat all the nice things that have already been said and that I fully agree with. Great location. wonderful host... Trying to add a bit more colour : The cabin lies at 6000 ft. The air is wonderfully light and even after a very hot day (and we had a couple in the high 90s) the place cools down nicely The night sky is amazing as there is no light pollution Betsy was concerned our GPS might not find the place but we didn't have any problem The decoration is really nice. I've rented cabins where the decoration is "rustic" usually meaning it hasn't been updated in 30y; it isn't the case here; a lot of decorative items are older, but you can tell an interior designer (amateur ?) has tastefully picked them. Betsy is right next door, and always available for relevant advice (like breakfast or diner a skiogen kitchen in Custer)

This is a fantastic place that allows you to experience the Black Hills away from the traffic and tourists. The view from the house is beautiful and the local wildlife (Mercy the dog and Big Red the horse included) make it all the better. The drive is about 10 minutes from Custer and is a perfect place to stay when visiting Custer State Park, Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, and all the other area towns and attractions.

Such a gorgeous escape into nature & serenity! The cabin is beautiful, welcoming, & cozy yet roomy. You can either spend your days away from the rest of the world; relaxing, making fire, seeing stars, etc. or go 15 minutes into town for surprisingly amazing food, sites, & to-dos. Betsy & Kim are the world's kindest hosts. There's also a horse riding place in their neighborhood! Couldn't recommend the Cabin @ Blue Bird Ridge more!

The cabin was just as described in the listing. We loved it! Betsy was a great communicator and was willing to help with anything we needed. The cabin was well appointed, super peaceful, and had a wonderful deck area for relaxing. The beds were comfortable and we slept great. We cooked and used the gas grill and had some delicious meals. Mercy the dog greeted us daily and Big Red the miniature horse loved carrots! The cabin is situated close to Custer and was a convenient base for exploring the Southern Black Hills. We highly recommend staying here.

You will not be disappointed in your stay at the cabin. Our kids couldn't get enough of Mercy, the best dog in the world, Big Red, the miniature horse, playing in the Kids Koup, sleeping in bunk beds, roasting marshmallows, and just having such a wonderful place to call home base as we explored the Black Hills. The cabin has so many beautiful touches, and you can tell Betsy and Kim put so much thought into making it a wonderful retreat. We loved every minute!

My husband Kim and I love our country life. We appreciate the value of having a place of quiet refuge and enjoy providing that to others. When our children and grandchildren aren't here visiting, we are honored to host other visitors to our beautiful Black Hills.
We also enjoy gardening, hiking and camping. Each day is a gift and each person a treasure!
