Matt and Kelly's review left out several details which I will further address. The review left by Matt is not accurate. I had a HORRIBLE experience with both Matt and Kelly.
I was out of town and made arrangements for Matt to contact my friend to provide him the access card, key and check-in access to the apartment. Matt left out the part that he had gone to the apartment building first. After Matt went to the apartment building, he contacted my friend to meet him at a restaurant parking lot (about 10 minutes away from the apartment building). That restaurant was closed too at that time as this was after midnight (Friday night)/early Saturday morning.
I have never experienced an Airbnb guest asking me/my friend to meet a guest at another location other than where the guest is staying. My friend was not comfortable meeting Matt and Kelly at another location other than the listing. However, my friend agreed to meet them there.
When my friend arrived at the parking lot at the restaurant, Matt's car was the only car in the parking lot. Matt then informed my friend that , "there was too many cops" at the apartment building. My friend met Matt at the restaurant parking lot and wanted to give him the access card and keys there. However, Matt insisted in following my friend down the road to the building. When, my friend got to the building, there was not many cops around. Being a Friday night and a college town, yes, cops will be around which is great. For whatever reason, my friend felt for unknown reasons, Matt was extremely nervous about the cops.
Upon arriving at the apartment building, there was a guard to let my friend and Matt in. While my friend was talking to the guard and after giving the I.D, out of nowhere, Matt tried to cut (in the small tiny space) next to my friend's vehicle trying to get in front of my friend's vehicle almost hitting my friend's vehicle and hitting the wall. My friend, another friend in the vehicle and the security guard all yelled at Matt to "stop, wait and don't move." My friend did not know where Matt was going or what Matt was trying to do. Upon entering the parking lot, my friend showed Matt and Kelly the apartment, got them settled in and showed them the room.
According to my friend, my friend smelled "alcohol" and "marijuana" on the guests, but did not say anything to them, their eyes was blood shot red and appeared to be extremely tired after a 6 hour drive.
The next morning at 9:14am, I messaged Matt asking Matt about the check-in the night before and did not hear back form him until several hours later. It took Matt almost 10 hours later to let me know about the cigarette smell and lack of hot water.
This was a shared listing. There was another guest staying there in another room through Airbnb at the same time and there was no complaints from this guest. This guest was there even longer than Matt and Kelly.
Matt told me on the second night that they were looking for hotels on the first night, yet his review points otherwise.
Contrary to what the guest has said, I did not make any excuses for what I was informed about the apartment after I was told this information a whole day later.
I am still puzzled at the guests' behavior as it took them a whole day to let me know if there was something wrong (supposedly according to them). I wished the guests informed me something was wrong (if was true) the night they checked in or even the next morning. However, they did not, they waited for a whole day to let me know about these matters.
My experience with both guests was HORRIBLE. I would not host them again as there was some strange behavior from asking to be met at another location different from the listing because of "cops", almost hitting into my friend's car and into the wall at the entrance of apartment building, according to my friend, the guests appeared to be too anxious for only reasons he knows and waited to let me know about any matters (a whole day later), despite the fact there was no complaints from another Airbnb guest that was there at the same time.
