A charming, relaxed, central 3rd floor flat. Perfect as a base for seeing Edinburgh, great for cooking and comfortable for relaxing in the evenings. Shops, sights and restaurants very close-you'll be in the heart of the city.
This 3rd floor flat (no lift) has been lovingly renovated and decorated traditionally. It is a two bedroom flat with both bedrooms having superb views of the castle across the garden (so nice and quiet).
Both bedrooms have very comfortable antique double beds for you to enjoy. There is plenty of space to store your clothes in the cupboard, lots of plug sockets to charge everything and you could even move the TV through to watch in bed if you fancied a lazy day. There is a fold up single bed in the sitting room if there is a 5th person or if you don't fancy sharing a room. If you wish to use the fold up bed please let me know. There is an additional charge of £20.
I have done my best to source reclaimed materials wherever possible. The kitchen shelves are made out of teak decking from the MV Augustus Ocean Liner, the marble work surface was salvaged from a scrap yard, I cut a hole in an old Edwardian wash stand to put in a stunning copper sink, the tiles in the bathroom are reclaimed marble, travertine and probably a few other types of stone I don't know about! The wee sink in the separate toilet was made by a local potter. A lot of the furniture is from my childhood home in Edinburgh too.
The sun streams into the sitting room during the day but the shutters block it out should you be having a sleep on the couch.
The kitchen is fully equipped-I love to cook and want to make you feel welcome to do so. There is oil, salt, pepper, loads of spices and herbs, tea and coffee and probably a few other things to help you on your way to making delicious meals. And a dishwasher so you don't need to do the dishes.
Check in and out times are flexible depending on when the next guests are arriving. If you are checking in early I may still be doing the cleaning! That also applies if you are checking out late.

Échanges avec les voyageurs
I'm away for the wint(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) so it will be self check in via a key safe. I do have lots of friends in the city so if you have any issues do call/send me a message on Airbnb as soon as possible and I'll get it sorted. I want you to have a wonderful stay and excellent holiday in Edinburgh! I'm also more than happy to give recommendations if you let me know what sort of places you like.
Scottish Storytelling Festival 20 October – 31 October 2017
Samhuinn Fire Festival 31 October 2017
Please do not smoke in the flat.
The flat is self check in from the 19th October 2017 until Mid March 2018 as I'm away for the winter. I do have lots of friends in Edinburgh who will be happy to help you and if you are concerned about using the key safe they may be able to meet you. Please let me know in advance. I'll only be a message away and give you lots of tips about the city if you tell me what you like.
Please leave the flat tidy (chuck all dishes in dishwasher, start it off and wash anything that can't fit in).
When you go out, please turn off the lights and turn down the heating if you have adjusted it.
Please don't help yourself to clean bed linen from the cupboard-just ask and I can get some for you. I need the ones in the cupboard for the next guests!
I'm a friendly, cheerful person. I've hosted a lot of Couchsurfers in the past so am very aware of how to be a respectful guest! I love to travel, cook and meet new people. I'm friendly, relaxed and very happy exploring a new city/country.
I've recently renovated a flat which I'm very proud of! The photos of that will give you an idea of my personality. I love old, vintage things as well as antiques!
I like to make people feel welcome and relaxed. I'm more than happy to talk about Edinburgh (as well as other countries), give advice and recommendations and assist in anyway I can.
