It was all just like he said in the ad! It was secluded and gorgeous and the cabin was adorable! John was very quick to reply to my messages too which was great.

I loved staying at the Cabin! John left the door unlocked and we didn't get the chance to meet but he was very kind to talk with via chat. Definitely take his heeded warning and drive slowly on the path especially if arriving at night. The small risk is actually fun and worth the reward for sure, this was one of the most charming places I have been and hope to make it our annual home for the weekend of the Common Ground Country Fair. It was cold in the morning but still so refreshing to take a morning dip! The cabin was exactly as promised with a great open space inside and out for relaxing and a gorgeous wood stove.

I have never left a bad review of a property but I feel compelled to let others know what to actually expect if they choose this cabin. It is not as private as described, you can see another property from the home and there are several other neighbors that you can hear on the adjacent road. Walking in to the cabin we almost turned around and left but we couldn't get someone from Airbnb on the phone to discuss getting our money back. We have stayed in other self described "rustic//off the grid" cabins and have never had such a poor experience. There were cobwebs everywhere, the floor has never been swept, of the few pieces of furniture in the cabin almost all of it was broken, the bed is just a dingy mattress, the blankets hadn't been washed, the pillows were dirty, almost nothing was provided for hospitality or comfort. Aside from cleanliness and aesthetics, upstairs in the loft there were so many exposed nails coming out of the ceiling, one of the doors has a broken lock and the broken furniture had exposed hardware as well. There were flashlights and a lantern but none of them worked [we had the foresight to bring candles and our own stash of flashlights]. There were three hooks in the entire cabin and no shelves, so there way no way to even make our experience more comfortable. The cabin looks very appealing from the outside, on the inside we may as well have been camping in a lean to. After taxes and fees this property is a real rip off at $100 a night, we are experienced campers and should have saved our money and just gone tenting in the woods. I really wish we had something better to say about this listing but it was extremely disappointing and it felt like a real waste of money. The positive feedback I can offer is: the port a potty was very clean, we got to see a beautiful moon rise over the lake, and you can hear the loons from the cabin. We won't be staying again and I would warn future guests that it is basically indoor camping.

This was only our third AirBnB experience, and I have to say this was probably our favorite! So quaint and peaceful! If we're ever back in the area, we will definitely try to book this cozy cabin again! Thanks John for letting us use your cabin and enjoy the beautiful views!

Wonderful off-the-grid location. The tall pines and lake view from the deck were picturesque. (Several water skiers but that might have been due to the Labor Day holiday.) The lake was a perfect temp and the water was clear and fresh. A dip in the water was a refreshing end to our day. The deck surrounding the home was a treat and larger than the photos might have suggested. We spent most of our time there or by the campfire, at night. The small sink/kitchen he set-up was convenient. The loft style sleeping arrangements were fun and made us feel like kids again. (Just watch your head if you are 5'8" or taller.) We would definitely return here and recommend it to others who like a simple, almost camp-like getaway.

Moon Country indeed. Spending a couple nights away from the ambient light of Boston meant seeing the night sky as clear as I ever have. The rest of my stay was like this too - very peaceful and calm, from swimming in the lake to making s'mores at the campfire. John was very helpful in answering a couple questions I had before arriving at the cabin. Just be prepared to provide your own light source when it gets dark (though there are some candles lying around for mood lighting).

The cabin is charming, well equipped for two, and has a beautiful view of the lake. We enjoyed camp fires, a dip in the lake, and the loon songs each night. We had fun counting the freight train cars, the longest was 74 long! The jet ski course is close to the shore and we enjoyed their show too. John's description of the cabin is very good and he responded to my messages and call right away.
