Two hours drive from the Athens airport, this independent stone cottage in Mountainous Corinth (the Switzerland of Greece) is ideal all year round for a couple (+1 child) that love the outdoors and want to use it as a base to explore the Peloponnese.
Love Greece and want to have an alternative to a beach holiday? This exclusive stone cottage is ideal for a couple that loves the outdoors and a great base for exploring the surrounding region all year round, combining nature with amazing day trips, treks and hikes. Situated in Mountainous Corinth, known as the Switzerland of Greece, and between mountains, the small village of Lafka is home to 200 people and less than two hours drive from the international airport of Athens.
The stone cottage is set as a mezzanine apartment with a high ceiling and an internal wooden staircase leading up to the open bedroom (double bed, study desk, extra bed for child). It is built in the traditional stone style of the area with wood internal finishes and tastefully decorated in mountainous style. The cottage is fully autonomous, with independent heating and an indoor fireplace. It includes a fully equipped kitchen and a dining table with four chairs, a bathroom with shower and a comfortable living room area with two four seat couches. The cottage is literally at the feet of the mountains, between pine and maple trees, and enjoys unparalleled mountain views. In the summer months you can sit at the spacious veranda (with seating table and two benches) and enjoy your breakfast, read or surf the internet to plan your adventures (wifi available in the property). Unfortunately from January 2017 we no longer accept pets.
We hope that you will love exploring the unexplored Greece as much as we do!

In the cottage you will also find hike equipment (headlights, tent, sleeping bags) for your excursions (please leave them in good conditions for the next guests!), marked trail maps and a handmade detailed guide to the activities of the area, including phone numbers and contact names for you to keep.
I am Greek, originally from Lafka, and now live with my Canadian husband and our kids in Athens. We all love the outdoors and try to get out in the mountains as often as possible. It has been wonderful sharing our little remote corner of earth with people from all over the world!
