Description

Our lovely bright studio is located on Broadway Market, right in the heart of the most vibrant, creative and fun part of town…..think Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY.

Our lovely bright studio is located on Broadway Market, right in the heart of the most vibrant, creative and fun part of town…..think Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY.

An ideal base for a holiday or to work, the studio is 355 sq.ft. and comes with fast wireless internet and Freeview HD TV with easy to use PVR recorder.

The expansive main window makes the space lovely and bright, but is fitted with custom built blinds to provide the perfect shade and seclusion when required. The kitchen and bathroom face to the front and are both separated from the main living space, each having their own skylights to pull in natural light and fresh air, but are set back from the parapet providing privacy from the hustle and bustle of Broadway Market.

We don’t live there, so all of the storage is available, including fitted wardrobes and under-bed none of the clutter of living out of suitcases.

The bed is a Muji double and there is a 2-seater Futon Sofa-bed providing soft seating and additional sleeping to easily accommodate a four person family. We have just bought the studio so all of the furniture and bedding are brand new and not the ones you see in the photographs (which we will update imminently).

The bathroom is small, clean and functional, and there is a washing machine and the usual amenities in the kitchen.

We are a small family with two teenaged kids, my wife is a nutritionist and I work in music. We live close by, in Camden Town and know London very well, so if we are here during your stay we’re always available for any help or guidance you need, but won’t be under your feet.

Broadway Market is wonderfully hectic on Saturdays and sociably bustling through the rest of the week, littered with coffee shops, bars and vintage boutiques. We’re literally yards from the beautiful Regents Canal (a brilliantly scenic way to explore London) and just a few more yards in the opposite direction from London Fields (the mini-central park of Hackney).

London Fields has a public Lido (largest heated outdoor swimming pool in London), table tennis and is bursting with the usual parklife, while Haggerston Park offers more green space, sports facilities and a City Farm which is open to the public.

Just beyond that is Columbia Road Market, an East End flower market with a long tradition, including authentic bawling Cockney market traders. But now augmented with modern art, vintage clothes, antiques and all manner of interesting and creative nik-naks and eats.

Then you’re in Shoreditch, the creative centre of Hipster London and more nightlife than you can imagine.

Brick Lane, The City of London (historic financial district) and the river Thames are all reachable on foot or by public cycles if you’re brave and in a hurry.

We’re a 5-10 minute walk from London Fields Overground train (convenient and scenic) and 5 minutes more to Bethnal Green Underground train (less scenic but easy for everywhere). Loads of buses in the area and the Regents Canal path is one of the best walks/cycle rides in London, heading towards the Olympic village in the East and through Camden Town into Regents Park in the North.

For guests with cars I can provide parking permit vouchers at cost.

There is a free app called 'CITY PLANNER' which is an invaluable help for getting around London by all of the available modes of transport. Worth downloading in advance if you're new to London.

This flat is in a good location on Broadway Market which on a Saturday came alive with all sorts of stalls and live music. Although situated outside the very centre of London, the bus and overground routes were great. The flat itself is very comfortable and equipped with all the basics. Although a studio flat, it felt spacious. However two of the window blinds were broken upon arrival which meant that there was less privacy than expected and being woken up very early due to the sun streaming in the large window. The flat got extremely hot peaking at 28c, due to the lovely weather and the fan did little to cool it down. Unfortunately these all amounted to a poor quality of sleep. The bathroom was a little tired looking with peeling paintwork and a mouldy shower curtain. Having said this, the flat was great value for money and Matt and Lola were very helpful.

Steph, We were disapointed to read your review. I appreciate the broken blind panels were an annoyance and disturbed your sleep, but I believe Matt mentioned they were being fixed this week, and had you mentioned it before your departure I could have explained a way of keeping them closed at night. Acknowledging your inconvenience and as a gesture of empathy, I offered you a free night, which I took from your response that you appreciated. Regarding the fan, we ask all guests for feedback and if you found the fan to be inadequate, it would have been helpful if you contacted me. I would have arranged to drop by a different, more powerful fan. In 3 years no guest has ever complained that the fan is inadequate. Please bear in mind that it was a rare day of exceptional heat. We appreciate feedback so thank you for pointing out the mildew dotted bottom of the shower curtain. This is not very nice for guests and has now been changed for a new one.

We just spend the most amazing 8/9 days in London. We loved the city and absolutely loved Matt's apartment, specially the neighbourhood. It's sometimes a challenge to accept that you won't stay in the center of the city...but it's all about leaving the comfort zone! In this case was totally worth it. I now want to live in Broadway Market! Thank you Matt! You were a great host! We hope to stay at your place again in the NEAR future. ;)

This place is perfect. I liked the decor and style of the flat very much. The location is convenient, busy during the day and quiet in the night. It's got everything I need and the bed is comfy. So I will definitely stay there when I visit London in the future.

Matt was really quick to reply to our messages prior to arrival and met us at the flat to give us the information needed when checking in. This flat was great, just the right size for us when in London to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is located right on Broadway Market so on the Saturday morning you step straight out into the hustle of wonderful stalls. Even though it's so close, we didn't hear any noise from the market in the flat - it faces away from the street. The view over East London in the evenings was lovely. It was also nice that there was a shower and a bath.

Matt's loft was great - perfect size for a couple and a baby, great location for exploring inner East of London, we walked most places, and spend lots of time hanging in London fields admiring the beautiful wild flower patch. We happened to visit London when it was quite warm which was great, but it did mean the loft became uncomfortably warm during the day, in the evening with windows open + fan it was comfortable enough. Given usual London weather, this wouldn't be an issue most of the year! Otherwise, it was exactly what we needed, would definitely stay here again. Matt was very friendly, flexible check in, met us at flat and gave us all the info we needed. Thanks Matt.

I'm a husband and a father, of mixed Trinidadian and English lineage. I grew up in Hackney, live in Camden and love London.
I studied law, work in music and support Arsenal. I cycle most days, motor-cycle when the sun is out and sometimes walk.
We love working with Air BnB. It has been a great experience. loads of guests, lots of really nice people, which is a bonus.
