The spacious house has an open kitchen, dining and living area, as well as a separated kitchen storage. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, oven, stove and kitchen utensils. Our staff will directly prepare there your breakfast in the mornings.

We offer breakfast, prepared by our staff. We also arrange delivery of traditional food from the village for lunch and dinner.

For breakfast, you can choose among a variety of Western and Indonesian meals: bread and eggs, muesli, oatmeal, rice porridge, Nasi Goreng (fried rice). Every breakfast is served with tea or coffee and a selection of tropical fruits.

We arrange massage for guests by massage therapists from the village. On request, our staff is making an apointment for a massage.

We offer a mobile phone with an Indonesian SIM card, so guests can arrange appointments and tours.

We are offering this house for rent during times, in which we don't live there by ourselves as we divide our time between Berlin, Jakarta and Yogyakarta. This means, we will not be present during your stay.

But there will be a friend of us on check in, who speaks fluent English and who you can contact anytime if you have questions.

Autres remarques

In the process of building the house, our visions was to find a balance between privacy and connectedness to our surroundings.

We decided to keep the living area open without walls towards the garden and rice fields. The big trees, aligned along the house, offer a nice protection from wind and direct views into the house, while you can still witness the activities of the farmers around you.

Next to the house is another, small guesthouse (Rumah Gladak), which we offer for rent as well. It can be also rented together with Joglo Gumuk, if you want to come with a group or a bigger family.

We also share the land with the father of the landowner, who is living at the back part of the land and is guarding our houses by day and night.

We provide Wireless Internet through a modem.

As an alternative, we advise to guests (and what we can help with to set up) is Internet on guest's own smartphone with an Indonesian SIM Card. It is quiet easy to arrange and priceless and provides an individual Internet access and a more stable connection.

We have currently three cats, who control that no mice and snakes enter the living areas. If you are a cat lover, you will be happy because they love to be close to anyone who comes. If you do have a cat allergy or just dont like cats around you, our house might not be the right place for you.

The picture might make this already clear, but we want to make sure before you book: we are in the middle of tropical nature. So it means if you come, you should be not too scared of nature and its creatures. Please reflect on this by yourself before you book.

We do not promote our place as especially kid friendly as it might not be safe for children with the ponds on our land. Though, we used to have families, who really enjoyed staying in our place and families are welcome when they feel the place fits for them.

We are situated in the middle of a traditional village life. The people in the village are very friendly and welcoming while respecting privacy.

Please be sensitive as well and respect their customs. Don't make loud parties, involving lots of alcohol. Please dress appropriately - our area is not strictly islamic and quiet open-minded. But still, there are customs of women not been dressed too exposed. Please be aware of this.

When making walks through the rice fields, a friendly smile and simple greeting is a nice gestures, while stepping through their farmlands.

As for house rules, we ask our guests to absolutely avoid open fire, as our house construction consists solely of wood. Smoking is allowed in the open areas, but please be cautious.

Very pleasant guest house in the countryside around jogja. The location is very spacious and open to the nature : it is strongly energyzing. Sleeping with all the sounds of nature , and then having a delicious breakfast in front of the rice fields is a great moment. A huge 'Thank You' to Persiyam.

I can't say enough good things about my stay at Katia and Faozan's place. Mia and Parsiyum were incredibly hospitable. The entire home and property is idyllic. I had personal yoga sessions at the open, traditional-style Yogya home. I enjoyed the walks through the rice fields, the nearby restaurants and villages, the breakfasts made at the home, and much more. I will make a point to come back to Yogyakarta in the future just to stay here again. Thank you so much!

If you are looking for a peaceful surrounding close to nature and fresh air Joglo Gumuk is the place. You can see the breathtaking view of sunrise every morning in front of the house. The house and room have no air conditioning but it is cool in the day and cold at night and early morning. Will definitely recommend you to stay here if you love nature. There is morning prayers from the mosque every day at 4.30 am but it does not bother us after the first day as you will get used to it. There are a lot of sounds from the frogs, cats, cockerel and insects. You will not get to hear this kind of sounds if you are staying in a town area or apartment/condominium so it is a good experience. My husband and I love the place and will definitely come back again. It comes with breakfast everyday with 3 choices and the coffee is so good as it is freshly made from coffee beans. Breakfast is simple but sufficient enough to keep you full until lunch. After my experience in Joglo Gumuk now I know why there were no bad reviews. Massage can be arranged to be done at the house by appointment. Close by there are nice restaurants for lunch and dinner like "The Sawah" and "Blue Steps".

A wonderful place to stay. The house is lovely, Mia (who handled check-in) was extremely helpful, both with the house and with helping me arrange activities. Persiyam, who looks after the house, is very helpful and makes a delicious breakfast every day! My favourite part was the view in the mornings, which is fantastic! General advice for Yogyakarta, not just this house - I would advise bringing ear plugs if you're a light sleeper, as the call to prayer can be loud in the mornings.

Staying here was wonderful experience. The Joglo is amazing and I highly recommend it. Not only is the space beautiful, but the service is fantastic. Mia manages the place and her skills and communication are exceptional. I was also very lucky to access to a driver, Joko who took me to many local sights in Yogyakarta. It was the perfect entry to Java and I feel as though I had great insight into Javanes culture. Thank you! :)

Joglo Gumuk is a beautiful place offering a big space, well furnished and decorated, very warm and comfortable. The ponds with singing frogs as well as the cats are great neighbors for us who wanted to stay close to nature. The view on the green rice paddies is astonishing and everyone who took care of us was extremely kind. We enjoyed every minute and would love to return soon.
