This studio cottage has a beautiful ocean view on one side and a tropical gulch on the other. A screened in porch allows you to enjoy the outdoors without being bothered by the mosquitoes. The cottage is perfect for a couple but sleeps 4.
The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, hot plate, microwave, coffeemaker, electric skillet, no stove/oven, toaster oven, etc. full size refrigerator, handicap accessible, near Waipio Valley, private, walk to town, daily farmers market on the corner, great location between Hilo & Kona, best climate on the island, no vog, free Wifi. Parking in front of deck. Washer/dryer, ironing board, iron in laundry room near the Green Cottage which is up the steps to the left of the drive. Excellent location, private, easy to find, short drive to Waipio Valley, 45 minutes to Hilo or Hapuna Beach, the best beach on the island. Just an 1.5 hrs to Kona. The famous Akaka Falls is about 20-25 minutes away. The cottage is beside a gulch with seasonal waterfalls. No air conditioner, usually not needed. There is a ceiling fan and a portable fan. There is also a portable heater if needed. The toilet has a bidet attachment for better personal hygiene. There is a queen bed and a fold down futon sofa. Flat screen HDTV with Smart DVD player you can access Netflix, Amazon, etc. Because good beach towels have disappered, you will be charged $20 for missing beach towels. $5 for lost keys. The garbage & recycling cans are beside the laundry. Feel free to pick the citrus when in season. This in not a B&B, no food provided. Minimum supplies, salt, pepper, tea, coffee, sugar, possibly things other guests have left that we feel are good, clean & edible. There is also a hair dryer for your use. Great little town, friendly people, library, community pool, theater, great shops and restaurants and farmers market on the corner. Tennis and Golf are near by. Beach, Diving, Surfing, Hiking and Fishing are also easy day trips. There is an on demand hot water heater. The switch is on the wall by the mirror near the bathroom. You will get all the hot water you need in 10 minutes. Remember to shut it off if you will be out all day and when you leave. Coqui frogs make noise at night. Some people enjoy the sound. Do not feed the fish or the feral cats. If the cottage feels damp because it has been raining a lot, there is a space heater that warms the place up nicely. Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT) of 13.42% should be collected after your arrival/before you leave.

Guests have the cottage to themselves and one parking space. The laundry room is shared. Between the two cottage are 3 citrus trees. You are welcome to pick the fruit when it is in season. There are oranges, lemons and mandarins.

We live between California and Hawaii so we may or may not be on island when you arrive but are always available by phone, text & email. If you can not reach us, Virginia, our housekeeper lives near by and can usually solve any problem you may have. Her phone number is list in the booklet on the table.

NO smoking, drugs or pets. No more than 4 people. Please use common courtesy. Quiet time 10pm to 8am. Cleanliness is a necessity to keep the critters away. Keep all food covered or refrigerated. Conservation is good. Honokaa has mixed recycling which means paper, card board, plastic, cans and bottles (except glass) are recycled together. If possible take your trash and recycling to the transfer station on Plumeria Street. Please put your trash & recycling in the cans by the laundry. If you are staying more than one week, you must take your trash and recycling to the transfer station because the housekeeper will not come around. Please make sure the hot water heater is turned off when you leave or if you will be out all day. Electricity is very expensive in Hawaii. You promise to pay the Hawaii TA tax. Leave cash or check made out to Patricia El-Gasseir on the table or if you prefer, I can request money through Airbnb.
Our home is in San Francisco Bay Area. We love Hawaii and bought this property which we hope to retire to in the near future. In the meantime, we will be going back and forth. We are an older couple.
