The cabin was exactly as I imagined it from my childhood when we went up to the Poconos. It has everything that you need. I am tired of over the top accommodations that are a distraction from what is really important. Nature, and beauty are all around you. This is cabin is comfortable, cozy, practical and affordable. Neil couldn't have been more accommodating. We will definitely be back. As many others have comments - the fire pit and Jacuzzi are wonderful to have along with a large lawn and adjacent wooded area to walk your dog. And the bedroom is large. Thanks Neil for sharing your piece of Paradise with us! : )

Great stay and a much needed break. Place is exactly as portrayed in the pictures. Neil's place had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves and unwind.

The rustic cabin under the hemlock trees is a very relaxing location. Open the car windows and let the mountain air in because Cresco, Mountain Home and Canadensis (Can-Nah-DEN-sis, (meaning "of Canada" ) Villages are all within a 10 minute scenic drive. After a day of hiking numerous trails at Promise Land State Park, the dip in the hot tub under the hemlock trees is just few steps away from the cabin front door. Or just lay in the hammock letting the mountain breeze sway you into chillaxing. The cabin has a full gas stove , microwave, coffee machine and refrigerator if you want to prepare your own meals , but we wanted to try local restaurants and were pleasantly surprised at the wonderful food , service and ambiance. In the Village of Mountain Home, call ahead for dinner reservations to dine on the porch at the Forks at Buck Hill Inn. In the Village of Cresco, try Velma's Cafe - bring your appetite and be prepared to chat with the hostess ! Only open several days a week , try the fine dining at the Frogtown Inn located in Canadensis. Jimmy's Ice Cream is located at the junction of Rt 191 and 390 for some creamy thick Turkey Hill Ice cream by the scoop! I know that I mentioned a few food spots here , but we love the privacy of the Bear Town Cottages and the convenience of dining locations within a 10 minute drive. Oh and one last note: the Casino is under 20 minutes away.

Quaint cabin in a serene setting. Awesome bonus that the cabin is dog friendly, not always easy to find. Very clean space, hot tub was a great bonus as well. Set up badminton and had enough space in the yard to play. Neil met us as soon as we arrived to make sure all was okay. A lot of great places to eat in Mountainhome, PA. Family dollar was a great resource, as we had forgotten a few things. I recommend checking out Callie's candy store, in the same town.
