It is in beautiful condition while still maintaining the 1950's retro feel. The space is above two garages off of an alley with 2 parking spaces for our guests. The outdoor deck w/barbecue, table and chairs makes you feel like you are sitting above the world.

(BE SURE TO LOOK AT GUIDEBOOK) You are 6 blocks from Alexander's (a white cloth Italian restaurant), Dunedin, Zensai Sushi, Underbelly, Tacos Perla, The Smoking Goat, Amorcita Corazon, Modern Times and tons more fun spots. In addition, the Thorn St. Brewery is only 2 blocks away and 5 nights a week they have a food cart, not to mention an awesome beer selection. 10 blocks away is Balboa Park with it's tennis courts, pool, golf, trails, etc etc. and on the other side of that is the San Diego zoo and the Old Globe theatre. The walkability doesn't get much better than this location!

Transportation:
All the main bus lines are 6-10 blocks away. Car to Go are seen parked all over the area.

-1 1/2 blocks away is the Thorn St Market, a small grocery store open until 9 every night.

-Also, there are 2 year-round weekly Farmers Markets—Hillcrest on Sundays & North Park on Thursdays
-Sprouts natural grocery store with organic options (10 min by car)
-Vons is only 4 minutes away.
-The Pancho Villa market is a wonderful place nearby to get fresh tortillas and all kinds of other goodies.
-There is also a Whole Foods in nearby Hillcrest, and two Trader Joe's within a short (7 minute) drive.
SMOKING IS ONLY PERMITTED ON OUTSIDE DECK.
The listing is totally private and self contained. The only thing that is separate is the laundry which is located in the garage below and is accessible through the adjoining yard. You need to let us know when you need to use the laundry so we can secure the dogs. Due to water crisis, we ask you not to use ldry until you have been here at least 3 days and then again 3 days later. We have had problems w/ guests washing 3-4 items every day and that can't be done in California. Thanks! We will interact as much or as little as the guests would like. We live in the house in front which is separated by a yard. All the main bus lines are within 6-10 blocks away plus the Car to Go company usually has a car parked close by at any given time.

The listing is totally private and self contained. The only thing that is separate is the laundry which is located in the back of your building below and is accessible through the adjoining yard. Call or text us to gain access as we have dogs and we need to be sure they are inside when you go into the yard. Due to the water crisis in San Diego, we are allowing only people staying more than three days to use the laundry and only after they have been here for 3 days. Then after that, another 3 days before using again. There are plenty of laundromats in the area if that is a problem ((SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) for locations). A lot of Airbnb hosts don't allow laundry use at all. We are allowing but with these restrictions. Thank you for understanding.

John et Joanie n'étaient pas là lors de notre arrivée mais l'accès à l'appartement se fait via un code sur la porte d'entrée (très pratique - cela évite de perdre la clef). L'appart n'est pas très grand mais tout est là pour se sentir à l'aise. Nous avons rapidement rencontré Joanie qui est très chaleureuse et qui a été d'une aide inestimable dans notre recherche de logement mais aussi pour nous aider à déménager vers notre logement permanent (nous nous installons à San Diego pour une année). Je recommande vivement ce logement à tout futur voyageur !

Nice and clean little home. But I would rent in a better location next time. Showers were limited. Sometimes there wasn't any hot water . I didn't like the parking. The apartment is only accessible through an alley.

The majority of airbnb's in this very very popular neighborhood have no parking at all. It's "catch as catch can" on the street. Our Airbnb has it's own parking spot that two small cars could fit in or 1 big car. Also, a lot of the airbnb's around here are also behind houses and you have to park on the street and then walk through the front yard of the front house to get to the back. It's quite advantageous that our airbnb has it's own parking right by the entry steps to the house and it's own private entrance.

We had a great time at this location, we would definitely come again! The host was well prepared and even had beach chairs and boogie board for beach activities. Great trip overall.

Jes and Joanie's place was great . All the comforts of home. This will be our go-to spot whenever we want a place to stay in San Diego. Very close to downtown, just a short drive to Coronado Island, yummy restaurants nearby.

This was a great place to stay in North Park! The apartment was nice and roomy. Everything was clean and all the cabinets and switches are clearly labeled. There are a few puzzles and games and a nice entertainment system. I would definitely stay again!

Jes and Joanie's place is beautiful, although a little bit hard to find since we arrived in the evening. The house is clean and tidy. The location is excellent. The host is friendly. Only small issue we had is the beds are too soft for our likes.

Jes is a high school social studies teacher and Joanie is a real estate agent. They have both lived together in San Diego since 1983. They love North Park because it is a great old neighborhood with lots of eateries and breweries that are within walking distance. Jes has played tennis all of his life and plays at Morley Field (5 minutes away- everything is close). They live in the house on the front part of the property. Joanie has been a realtor or 15 years and is in the top 1% of successful agents in California. Before that she was a flight attendant for American Airlines and retired after 23 years with them. Needless to say, she and Jes have traveled to many foreign countries and are sorry that they knew nothing about AirBNB back when she was flying for a living as it would have made that career even more exciting than it already was.
