Our experience at Andrea's room was amazing! First, thank you for allowing the last minute reservation, and then making arrangements to have us picked up from Attigliano station! Andrea's friends, Diane and Pete were the highlight of our visit! They picked us up from the Attigliano station, and drove us to Bomarzo, where Andrea's cottage is located. We received a key, so we had the room all to ourselves! Diane and Pete were so warm and inviting! They took us on a tour of the town, showed us how to get to the Parco Dei Mostri/Sacro Bosco (Monster Park/Sacred Woods), which was the reason why we stopped off in Bomarzo before heading to Rome the next day. Then, they picked us up from the park, and as luck would have it, we received a real Italian experience, by being invited to dinner by one of Diane and Pete's friends!!! It was seriously the best night during our vacation in Italy!
Some things to note about the apartment:
-There's no kitchen/microwave/refrigerator, so make sure you buy/eat dinner before calling it a night
-The apartment gets cold at night, but luckily Andrea has an electric heater that runs on oil! We also brought a blanket with us
-There's no wifi, so purchase tickets to events and trains ahead of time, take pictures of your purchases on your phone if you're not able to get to an Internet cafe (there's none in town, Bomarzo is pretty quaint). I restricted myself to wifi only, turning off all data and on airplane mode, but Andrea sent me a message later, that there's wifi closer to his wife's apartment (which was adjacent to his cottage). I got the message late, but no worries, since I didn't need it.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience only made that much more better by Diane and Pete. If you're luckily enough to meet them, you're in for a treat!
Thanks to Andrea, Diane and Pete, and of course the incomparable Luigi, who opened up his home to us and cooked a very special Italian dinner for my mother and I along with his equally hospitable friends!! I will never forget!!
**if you're coming for the Monster Park, it's only a 10 min walk from Bomarzo where Andrea lives. I would stay here again!
