Spacious accommodation in colorful 1890s Denver victorian, an oasis in the beating heart of Denver, conveniently located on the NE edge of the downtown area in historic Curtis Park. The House on Stout welcomes travelers, teachers, artists and visionaries, conference goers and people from around the world. Find fruit in the garden and magic all around you with the best of Denver at your fingertips!!
More than a few gifted artisans have had a hand in crafting the House on Stout, a true painted lady and a mosaic of all the carpenters, yogis, stonemasons and gardeners that have tiled, painted, practiced their prayers and meditations, tickled the keyboard, mortared, smudged, and drummed here over the past 15 years. Bless them all!
Two guest accommodations are available at the House on Stout ( see our other listing for the House on Stout: Prairie ) Guest rooms are each furnished with comfortable bedding and up-cycled decor. There is one shared bath with tub/shower, rather like a pension in Europe.
The Mesa is chili pepper and pueblo, big sunny windows, high ceilings and hardwood floors, the master bedroom with a super comfy queen sized 4-poster bed, cooled with both a ceiling fan and an evaporative cooler. Lay in bed on a summer night and watch the fireworks at Coors Field!
An extra bedroom with a twin sized bed adjoins the Mesa (see photos) and is available upon request as an add-on to the Mesa. The door between rooms does close and lock for privacy. The adjoining room is not rented separately.
Downstairs, find a full kitchen and lounge area, and out back a patio surrounded by wonderfully sensuous gardens, and a deck built for yoga and meditation.
Coffee and tea available throughout the day

I am a gardener and landscape designer, originating from Chicago, the city of big shoulders, and arriving in Denver 20 yrs ago, taken by the open skies, the frontier vibe, the endless sunshine and the opportunity to grow and invent. I bought a house on the still raw edge of the downtown area, began renovating and restoring, and the following year I started my gardening business...
After hours I play piano, paint, train my pup, tend to my own garden.
I love spring, beginning again, anew. In the summertime, its watermelon, fruit, the sun-swept garden. In winter, I am drawn to the ocean and the seashore and the spanish speaking world...
