Le logement
Upper Corriemoillie is a self contained, 3 bedroomed apartment covering the entire top floor of this elegant country house.

Corriemoillie Lodge is superbly situated in the heart of the Highlands, so whether you like walking, climbing, fishing, stalking, bird watching, cycling, riding, water sports, golf or just relaxing and enjoying the stunning scenery and fresh air, there is something for everyone – the perfect place for a peaceful Scottish holiday!

Corriemoillie Lodge is a former shooting lodge that was once the home of the legendary elephant hunter W.D.M. Bell. – the ultimate adventurer who was known as “Karamojo” Bell after the wild country in Africa where he spent many years and gained his reputation.

The Lodge is south facing in a secluded and peaceful location surrounded by shrubs and a wide variety of mature trees, with magnificent views towards Lochluichart and the Strathconon Hills. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area - red squirrels, deer, pine martins and many species of birds can be spotted without even leaving the garden!

Guests staying at Upper Corriemoillie have a self contained apartment covering the whole of the 2nd floor. The accommodation is finished to a very high standard and has a wealth of character with coombed ceilings, original fireplaces and stunning views. There are 3 good sized bedrooms - 1 twin, 1 double and 1 room with both a double and single bed, plus a large bathroom with shower, a separate additional WC and a fully equipped kitchen / living room. There is an electric cooker, microwave, fridge, drinks cooler, dishwasher, washer dryer, TV, DVD, CD player, WIFI etc..

As Corriemoillie Lodge is so perfectly located, the places to visit, stunning scenic drives and lovely walks are endless !

Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands is just a ½ hour drive south. This bustling city offers a wide range of shops, pubs and riverside restaurants, theatre, museums, art galleries etc. and the prominent sandstone castle dating back to the 1830’s overlooks the river Ness. You can even take a boat trip on the Moray Firth and enjoy some dolphin spotting.

Just a short drive from Inverness is the Culloden battlefield with it’s National Trust visitors centre. Here, in 1746, the last land battle in Britain took place where the Jacobites, led by Bonnie Prince Charlie, were famously defeated. Cawdor Castle and gardens is also within a short drive to the east of the city.

For those visiting in winter, the famous ski resort of Aviemore in the Cairngorms is just 30 miles south of Inverness.

Loch Ness, Scotland’s largest loch, is also just a few miles south of Inverness. There are plenty of attractions on both sides of the loch including Urquhart Castle, the Caladonian Canal lochs, the Rare Breeds Centre as well as boat cruises and Nessy spotting !

Also to the south lies the Victorian Spa town of Strathpeffer with its pump room, Highland Museum of Childhood and Castle Leod. For those wanting to sample a local dram there’s The Glen Ord Distillery at Muir of Ord or try some organic beer at the Black Isle Brewery, both within easy reach.

Also on the Black Isle there’s the Cromarty Court House Museum and the Black Isle Wildlife and Country Park which makes a great family day out.

To the west of Corriemoillie lies the breathtaking scenery of Glen Torridon, Beinn Eighe, Loch Maree, the picturesque coastal village of Plockton, the Applecross penisula and the famous Eilean Donan Castle. Also on the west coast there’s the chance to relax on the unspoilt beaches of Gairloch or wander around the famous National Trust gardens of Inverewe.

For those wishing to visit the Islands, the Skye bridge is just 50 miles west of Corriemoillie. The pretty fishing village of Ullapool, 30 miles North, also offers a ferry service to Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides, or pleasure cruises to the Summer Isles.

To the north there is the little town of Dornoch with it’s 13th century cathedral and pretty stone cottages, the National Nature Reserve at Loch Fleet, Dunrobin Castle and gardens and the Falls of Shin where salmon can be seen leaping at certain times of the year.

Of course Scotland is the home of golf and the Highlands is no exception with plenty to choose from, including Royal Dornoch (ranked 15th in the world), Nairn, Tain, Gairloch and Strathpeffer, all within easy reach.
