Lynn's photos are accurate and the house was generally clean. It is off the grid, which means you need to screenshot her directions (she suggests this in her intro email). A GPS alone will not get you there! We stayed on a very rainy weekend. The power went out both mornings…
Réponse de Lynn :
AirBnB encourages open and honest exchanges for both guests and hosts alike, regardless of whether or not either is positively or negatively put forth. Accordingly, it is erroneous and misleading to characterize our previous responses to guests' reviews as "passive-aggressive": we as a host have a right and obligation to set the record straight, if only to correct obvious misstatements made by any guest's review. In fact, the words "passive-aggressive," according to Berit Brogaard D.M.Sci., Ph.D, a Professor and the Director of the Brogaard Lab for Multisensory Research at the University of Miami, "People with passive-aggressive personality typically don't disagree or voice their resentment; it's their behaviors that indicate that they're passively ignoring a request or responsibility, or doing it only with resentment." Our valid response is the polar opposite. Other issues raised such as "use of the WIFI to video stream, gps, the firmness of the mattress (which ironically is publicly preferred by AirBnB standards), etc. are delineated on our ABnB listing, which any guest should read before booking our cabin. The driveway has at least (3) turnaround areas which can accommodate any vehicle (other than a dump truck) turning around, as we have done many times with our one-ton truck. However, the most egregious statement from this guest was a flat-out lie regarding the "loss of power" on both mornings for about 2 hours each time, adding "I don't share this to complain, but so that other guest(sic) will realize that this is a country location with country amenities!" Electricity in today's age is not an "amenity." Nor does our cabin get power from some backwoods company: it is supplied by Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative which by any standard is "large." As such, they can track any power outage. I confirmed that on the days in question there was ZERO outage. A brief outage occurred on 9/10 at precisely 10:13 a.m. and lasted for one hour and twenty-three minutes, indirectly due to the remnants of Hurricane Florence which was causing copious amounts of rain/wind along the Eastern Seaboard. SVEC did an outstanding job, as usual. As to other complaints about "rules" and "dishes," et.al., we ask that people "leave it as they found it" and abide by "rules" put in place for the safety of our cabin and each guests' comfort and safety.
Lynn likes to cook, run, ride horses, hike. Our favorite things to do and see at Shenandoah Chalet: romantic getaway, scenic Skyline Drive, ski at Massanutten Resort, explore Luray Caverns, hike in Shenandoah National Park, horseback riding at Skyland in the park, visit Civil War…
