It,s so wonderful to have the chance to live with them.I even can,t find another word to explain how lucky we are to meet them. They treat us not only like a guest and friend, but more like a family. They are care about us and are scrupulous for everything.Patrick and Maike are always smile and warm to us.There are no any pressure to live with them, you are totally free just like at your home.Once you have the chance to live in their house. You will be reluctant to leave.

I had a great time in Patrick n Mieke's. It's not enough just to say that they are very kind but more than that. Patrick made me a good plan for bruges that helped me a lot. Even when i left he gave me some memo not to get lost during the journey to the airport. They treated me as if i was a member of their family. The house are very big amd has a beautiful garden if you are lucky enough you can have meals or drinks in the garden. The room i used was vast for one person and the bed was really comfortable. The only concern you need to think is that the location is a bit far from the Bruges so you need to take a train(17mins) and ask Patrick to pick you up. But it's worthy it definitely. Patrick said because they travel often they can do air bnb only about 7 times a year. You might need a big luck to stay there. :)

Absolutely fabulous!! Beautiful home, lovely garden, fantastic generous hosts, lovely breakfasts and amazing dinner and evening spent with our hosts and our two young adult children. We all had a fantastic stay, as other reviews have said they treated us like family and went above and beyond with help, directions, lending us bikes and tomtom instructions and places to visit. The most enjoyable time of our holiday. Thanks so much and we hope we meet again.

our time with both Patrick and Mieke were wonderful. The room is large, quiet and very clean and the bed is very comfortable. Be aware you need to climb 2 flights of stairs to access the large room. You are always made to feel very welcome and included in their family. Mieke is a fabulous cook and both she and Patrick love to share their home with you. We enjoyed the village - we visited the german cemetery which is within walking distance to their home and met some of the local people during our walk. The two bathrooms are to be shared with P and M which was no problem. Patrick met us at the railway station and then took us to either the train station or bus station for our days exploration of the area. I would recommend Hooglede as a great place to recharge. Patrick and Mieke (and family) were very charming and warm. Please do not hesitate in choosing their warm home.

We stayed for two nights at the home of Patrick and Mieke. What lovely people they are! It was like being at home with friends. Everything was so warm, friendly, and comfortable, an excellent dinner and so helpful. We got our shoes dirty while visiting the wartime trenches and Patrick insisted on cleaning them. That was beyond the call of duty, I’d say!

We loved staying with Patrick and Mieke. They treated us so well, somewhere between favorite relatives and honored guests. We enjoyed interesting conversations in the evenings with them and Mieke's cooking is superb! My mouth is watering even now for her lasagna, spareribs and delicious appetizers! You don't have to eat dinner there, but I highly recommend it if they offer. Patrick was so sweet, he provided us a great map of Brugge, which really helped us since we had only one day to spend there. Wonderful, beautiful city, and it's really easy to take the train (Patrick drove us to and from the station each time) for 20 minutes and then walk through the medieval city of Brugge. Awesome chocolate! I have to say we bought our chocolate at Jan de Clerck, the best value and fantastic tasting chocolate (about half the price of the other chocolatiers). His family has been in business 83 years in Brugge, they're on Academiestraat if I remember right. I got sidetracked... Patrick and Mieke are the kind of people that host travelers because they love people and enjoy making people happy. Their home is charming and lovely, (beautiful garden, too). We stayed on the third floor which had a bedroom and sitting area, with a TV and beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Everything was clean and well-appointed. I'm amazed how well the Europeans use the space in their homes, and their place is a great example. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Belgium. Both Patrick and Mieke are very kind, welcoming, and we feek very blessed to have been able to stay in their home and get to know them a bit. I hope we stay in touch, and if we're ever in Belgium again, I know where I want to stay! Wonderful visit.

We didn't know we had family in Belgium until we met Patrick and Mieke. Our stop in Belgium was only supposed to last three days and even after a week it was hard to pull ourselves away. Hosting is sort of their thing is would seem. We will welcome them at home any day, any time, and hope that they take us up on this some day soon. Miss you both already. xoxo

We, Patrick and Mieke, are a couple, married for more than 30 years, young by heart and open minded. We both grew up in a large family. We both were teachers for a lot of years.
Mieke is a fantastic cook and I am a fantastic consumer of the things she prepares.
We try to enjoy life with our children, family and friends and by travelling around the world.
We love to meet new people with sense of humour to share opinions, new ideas, good things of life...
