Villa Cortinella is a completely renovated Tuscan house on two levels.
It is located at the edges of the Lucca plain, in a small and quiet district of Capannori, a strategic position to visit all the attractions in Tuscany.

You can do day trips to Pisa, Firenze, and Cinque Terre.

You need a car as within walking distance there are just a few food and grocery shops, a coin launderette and other villas and houses.

A couple of minutes away the road climbs up the hills and leads you to one of the most beautiful places of Tuscany, crossing the famous historical villas, located at the beginning of the hills.
The villa is not in the hills, you need a car or a bike to go there.

We had very nice vacations in Giacomo's house in Capannori. First of all, the house is ideally located near Lucca (10 min), Pisa (30 min), Firenze (45 min). Then the garden, with the uge pool is really pleasant and relaxing. Finally Giacomo and his parents are always avaible to give advices and/or to offer some delicious fruits or vegetables from their garden. Thank you very much Giacomo!

Giacomo was a great and friendly host and the property is quite large. The pool is fabulous and the grounds are fastidiously neat and clean. But accommodation is very basic. A little like going back in time to B&Bs of yesteryear: mattresses way past their use by date, kitchen with no sitting room, lack of comforts such as two wine glasses for a three bedroom house and two single serving coffee presses instead of one that would accommodate the group. Add to the fact that the house is just off a very busy road, the lack of modern facilities make this location OK, not great.

Hello Aaron, there are six wine glasses and the things you are calling "single serving coffee presses" are italian mokas (which are intended to make three serving each). I never wrote about a sitting room inside the house, so i don't know why you were expecting it. There is a dining area with two tables with chairs inside, and a table with chairs outside - plus sunbeds and beach chairs. And i really don't get the "lack of modern facilities". But i'm glad you enjoyed your stay Thank you Giacomo

Giacomo and his family are delightful hosts. They completely respect your privacy, but are there to help with any issues. Like other reviewers, we were given lovely fruits from the garden, and a bottle of their very nice home made chianti. On my birthday, a plate of delicious chestnut cakes was given to me - a really wonderful thing to have done! They also had excellent advice about places to eat and visit, especially when we decided to go to Florence for the day. The house itself is very nice, if not quite as rural as we were expecting, and is ideal for three couples as the rooms were all en suite. The location, just 10 minutes from beautiful Lucca, near the hills, and only an hour to Florence, makes it an ideal base. The garden is the real treat - really beautiful and with a gorgeous swimming pool which was spotlessly clean, and an excellent BBQ. We spent a lot of time just lazing there, very contentedly! The only thing we missed was having a lounge area, or at least some comfy chairs to sit on in the house when it was raining one evening! However, this is a minor point - a lovely place and recommended.

We had a truly amazing time at Giacomo's house in Capannori and feel really lucky to have found such a great place to stay at such short notice. We love a lot of space so the house suited us perfectly, the house is spotlessly clean and comfortable and decorated in traditional Tuscan style. We all enjoyed having our own independent suite, it was like having a small hotel to ourselves! The garden is simply beautiful, we were blessed with a week of blue skies so spent lots of time relaxing in and out of the pool amongst the vines, olive and lemon trees and playing “ Boules” under the shade of the trees, it was heavenly ! There's lots of useful touring information and maps available but what we appreciated most of all was Giacomo's help with our excursions, he loves his world and has a wealth of local knowledge, thanks to him we got to see the best places in Tuscany. We explored the Capannori hilltop villages, dined at a great restaurant in the medieval city of Lucca, visited the famous Uffizi art gallery in Florence and went on a day trip to the pretty Cinque Terra villages on the coast. During our week's stay (which was not long enough) Giacomo and his family were so kind to us, bringing us small treasures from their fruit and vegetable garden, we were totally spoilt. We feel we had a taste of the true spirit of Italy here at Villa Cortina, it is quintessentially Italian. A truly great place to stay with the added bonus of making a great friend too, we do hope to see Giacomo again soon and have the opportunity of hosting his trip to the Arcachon Bay in France in the near future. Molte grazie Giacomo!
