We had already visited Naples for a few days, and now were looking for a good location where we could stay for a week and explore the area. This apartment was great. It is located a very short distance from the train station, and from there, for less that 2 euros, we could hop onto it and ride to Pompeii, or Sorrento, and get on the bus to Amalfi.
The first day we explored Meta by foot, and discovered that it has a cute old town that we passed through on the way to the beach. Plus very good little restaurants. The grocery stores were in the other direction, also walkable.
The apartment itself is SUPER clean, and decorated with original oil paintings, and other classically Italian knick knacks and things. Very sweet. I believe the apartment has been in the family for many many years, and has been cared for with love. It is beautiful.
There is a small road going by below the apartment, but no noise that bothered us. We could also hear the trains coming and going, and that was just entertaining, not at all bothersome. The church bells rang throughout the day, and we loved that. The bed is super comfortable and we slept very well.
Now, the one thing I feel compelled to mention is the shower. We have been seeing these showers on our travels. It works well, if you can fit through the small 14 inch opening. And you really have to watch how long you shower, and takes 20 minutes to reheat the hot water before the next shower.
But in light of the fact that the rest of the apartment is close to perfect, we overlooked that one flaw. I can truly recommend that you stay here. It is a very good place to call home for a while.
