À propos de ce logement
We are offering a large private bedroom and bath. The space is our library when not hosting. Nantucket offers awesome beaches and bike paths, as well as a unique downtown historic district.
Surrounded by gardens of hydrangeas, roses and lavender, our Nantucket home has become our summer retreat. We are offering a large 16x20 first floor bedroom with two twin beds and private bath. It is very private as it was built as the "ell" on one side of our reproduction colonial post and beam home. There are 4 large windows in this bright and cheerful room which we use as a library/den. We have wireless internet, but no cable tv. There is an extensive library of books on Nantucket, spirituality, art, travel, and gardening among hundreds of fiction and non-fiction titles. Two people can be comfortably accommodated. It is extremely peaceful and relaxing as it is very set back from the road which connects the property to the rest of Nantucket so easily by bus, bicycle, or walking.
Accès des voyageurs
Guests will have access to a large private bedroom and full bathroom. There is no access to the rest of the house. No kitchen/cooking facilities are being offered.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
We will meet guests, show them the bedroom and bathroom and then respect their privacy. We will be at the house during guest stays.
Nantucket is called the "Faraway Isle" and the "Grey Lady." All summer long the sun shines in an indescribably beautiful way. Mornings may begin with a gentle misty fog that you can walk through on an early walk, and by 7 or 8, the sun shines in all its glory. A variety of restaurants, cafes, and a new grocery store with eating area are within easy walking distance for breakfast, lunch, and dinners out. We are located in the year-round mid-island area with the NRTA bus stop a block away.
For short stays, it is best to get around by bicycle, walking, taxi, or bus, as the cost of bringing a car to Nantucket is high. Go to the Steamship Authority website for prices/schedules for car ferry and passenger rates.
We are centrally located in the mid-island area of Nantucket. The bus stops one block away from the house all summer. We are 800 steps from the post office, the bank, a brand new grocery store, pharmacy, many artisan shops, and a variety of restaurants. Our house is a 10 minute bike ride from the wonderful south shore beaches. We are a 30 minute walk from the ferry terminals and the Historic District downtown area of Nantucket. The house is on the Surfside Bike Path which connects to all of the other many bike paths on Nantucket island.
We are a quiet senior couple who invite like-minded people--younger or older---to share our Nantucket retreat with us.
Quiet must be maintained after 9:00 p.m. Guests of guests are not permitted anywhere on the property. Only the bedroom and bath are being offered. There is no kitchen or laundry available.
No alcohol, drugs, or non-vegetarian food are to be brought into the house.

My husband and I are retired. He was a nurse for 30 years and I was a special education teacher. We have two grown children and three grandchildren. Our NH property has extensive perennial and organic vegetable gardens, a pond, and a woodland path. I am an ardent gardener and love to grow roses and foxgloves, along with garlic, tomatoes, and basil for Italian cooking. Our New Hampshire house is a typical New England farmhouse that has been added onto many times over the years. Although we do have internet, we have no television. We value the wonderful peace and quiet in our serene setting located a short walk from the Sant Bani Ashram, or a short drive to several large lakes and the Tanger Outlet Mall. The famed White Mountains of New Hampshire are a one hour drive north of us. We have traveled extensively in the U.S., as well as to Europe, Mexico, Canada, and India. We follow the teachings of Surat Shabd Yoga, including non-violence and meditation. Our life motto comes from our spiritual teacher Kirpal Singh: Go Jolly--Do Good, Be Good, Be One. During the summer, from mid May to early October, we offer Airb&b space in our Nantucket home, close to beaches, bike paths, and historic downtown area. We discovered Nantucket island 23 years ago and slowly developed the property. We love to ride our bikes, take out our kayaks and Compass Cat sailboat, and go to the many beaches when we are in Nantucket.
