We stayed in Placencia before way too far from town so this time we picked a closer spot and the Village Inn proved to be exactly what we wanted. Close to town (beautiful 15min walk) and on the beach. We aren't the resort types - we loved the feeling of 'living local' we had there. We could cook, grill or walk to one of Placencia's many great eating joints (Dawn's!!). Jacob (the owner) stopped by several times and visited with us and made us feel at home with his easy going attitude. Tyrone was always busy around the area keeping the beach looking nice and seeing if there was anything we needed. If we saw him in town we would always speak to us - gentle and friendly guy. You could tell they were invested in making sure our stay was without error while not hovering over us. It was as if the cabin was OUR house and they were our friendly neighbors. As far as other reviews about the fans and no AC - I didn't book a trip to Belize to sit inside under an air conditioner. If we got too hot, we walked 50' and got in the ocean. Simple. Efficient. And Free. At night, the fans did their job and cooled us down while we plotted the next day's adventures. The price paid considering the proximity to town (no car rental costs), the location (RIGHT on the Caribbean), and the total relaxed unpretentious vibe of the place made the Village Inn perfect for us. I really can't say enough good things about it. We will be booking this place again and learn how to grill lobster...on a beautiful beach next to super cute cabins.

Had a great time! It's secluded, but close enough that you can walk during the day to town or ride your bike to get groceries. It was quiet with no noise but the ocean. I enjoy the simplicity of the cabanas. You should be outside in the hammock :) A few people stopping by to sell stuff, but were pleasant when you declined. No safety issues. The housekeeper was super friendly. We used the bikes & kayaks. I would recommend this little slice of paradise.

The wife: If I were just reviewing the location I would give this place 5 stars. Absolutely stunning location, you walk out your front door onto a secluded beach. You can walk along the beach to town where there are many restaurants to enjoy. Unfortunately the inside was not so lovely in my opinion. If you are looking for a no frill almost camping type of a feel then you would love it here. No AC so several fans made it tolerable but then super loud (and still quite warm). There were bugs crawling all over the bathroom walls. I did not find the beds to be comfortable. Also the Wifi was pretty spotty and the TV rarely worked. There are also only screens with bars on the windows, this was great for letting in the ocean air, but someone was sitting right out side smoking a couple times which made the whole cabana stink. Since this was the only time going to Placencia I have nothing to compare the price to but a couple different locals told us that they could not believe we paid so much for that place ($150 US a night). There is a nice little kitchen with blender, toaster and other basic amenities. Tyrone, who works the Village Inn office across the street and cleans, was very available and willing to help. The place was nicely cleaned every other day. There were bikes and Kayaks available which we took advantage of and they were great, but they do charge extra for these things. There is a hammock and outdoor table and chairs which we really enjoyed. The husband: I'd probably give this place a high 3 or a low 4 out of 5 stars personally. For me the highlights were the location, the view, and Tyrone, who was extremely helpful throughout our entire stay. Jacob, the owner of the property, even came by to see how we were doing and provided some snorkel gear free of charge, which was really fun to use in the water despite the lack of nearby premium snorkel spots. Tyrone made the place feel very freshened up after he cleaned every other day and was always wanting to make sure we were alright. I loved that we were fairly separated from the noise of the 'Sidewalk' busy beach area of Placencia by a short walk (less than 5 minutes) and that gave me a sense of privacy. It felt like more of an authentic beach vacation experience. Some detractors I didn't anticipate were the bugs, ants inside and small roaches around the sink area at night. When the sun came up, which was incredible, you could see it shining through the gaps in the wall boards, which speaks to my wife's comment about an enhanced camping experience. The person we booked with was very helpful, but we lost email communication about some pretty important topics, like booking a snorkeling excursion and our flight back to Belize City. With Jacobs help...

Erin, I am happy to read your review, and apologize that FOR ONCE, i couldn't be as close as i am generally. As i told you a film crew from France took my entire time. mmm!! i meant life.. lol!!!!... i didn't know what it was to be a FIXER in a movie.. but hey!! i know now.. meaning: GIVING free time to help them the best.. I end up often in jungle without any WiFi.. BUT i am happy as the documentary will be seen in 51 countries in Europe, even if i feel sad i wasn't there as i am usually to help as i do. AS i told you i have been 20 years and first time that french TV came to do 3 documentaries about Belize. Again millions of apologize... As far as bugs, let me explain what bugs are in Belize... they are at home LOL!!! and in dry season they are looking for water, as i explained to that same film crew, here cockroach dont even go on our garbage, they are not dirty just water searcher, and when you came rain was on hold, if suddenly rain comes then bugs comes even more.. until they feel OKAY and hydrated... Let me tell you more about me... i didnt like bugs before but after 20 years they are part of my life, i dont even kill anymore, (not even rat I know... but hey!!!) (i live in City as well where more rat). They are not dirty.. they are just as us looking for a cool, and fresh area.. LOL!!, due to such it is very hard to control bugs, and i can conform you might see some in a 5 stars resort as well.. all depend on seasons.. As far as TV i will chat with Jacob, again another story to tell but originally we dont want TV in our cabanas BUT Government obligated one.. HARD!!! Price range, each owner have their own budget, but i can confirm that now in Placencia there are only 3 more business to have a WODDEN CABANAS on the beach... that make it a super PLACE even if no AC.. but fresh Sea Breeze. As said i really wish to have been around... Again millions of thanks and apologies and hope to see you again. VeroBelize Belize Expert.

Prior to our trip, our host Veronique provided regular updates and instructions for our upcoming trip. This was better than we have ever experienced and highly valued. This was our first time to Belize, and these proactive instructions helped us feel confident and more relaxed during our travel to the cabanas. The cabana is right on the beach, 10 steps away just as in the picture. It was clean, stocked with dishes, pans towels, toilet paper, etc. Has a coffee maker. There is no air conditioning. However the two fans are high powered and provide much cooling during the nights sleep. We did note that the cabana has so glass windows. This is great for hearing the ocean and wind, but gives a sense of openness to the elements vs other places with sealed, glass windows. This will be fine and even preferred by many, but wanted to mention so people know. Overall we enjoyed our sta, and appreciated that anytime we needed something (more towels, bikes extra cleaning) they quickly responded.

The cabana was exactly what I wanted and how it was described. Wonderful location, and Tyrone was very helpful. He also did a great job cleaning up the cabana during our stay. Love how close we were to the water and just a short walk or bike ride into town. Definitely would love to go back.
