You'll be staying in the "Belle Sherman" neighborhood, with an easy walk to Cornell, Collegetown, and downtown Ithaca (all within a mile!). Ithaca College is just a short drive. This lovely family neighborhood is quiet and picturesque. Six Mile Creek gorge is just a half mile away.

The room for your stay is the largest bedroom in the house with one full-sized (double) bed, a loveseat with coffee table, desk, closet, mini fridge, and Wifi. The room is on the second floor and has its own private porch with lounge chairs overlooking the garden. There is also space in the room to set up a queen-sized air mattress on the floor for an extra bed for one or two, if needed.

The location is ideal if you are visiting a student, an alum coming back to see beautiful Ithaca, or sightseeing in the Finger Lakes.

I am conveniently located on a quiet side street on East Hill, with plenty of parking on the street, just one mile from the downtown Ithaca Commons, and one mile from Cornell east campus, Collegetown, and East Hill Plaza. From Ithaca College it's about 2 miles -- an easy drive.

The house sits on a double lot, so there is plenty of yard and privacy. I am on TCAT Route 51 if your prefer to take the bus downtown and there are is a zipcar service to rent a car by the hour if that is what you need.

Linens and towels are provided, and if you need a hair dryer or iron, I have those you can borrow. Just let me know! Shower/bathtub is shared, but just the next room over. I have air conditioning for hot summer nights, which we need now and then in Ithaca. (Please note that this is a non-smoking house, but smoking is ok on porch or outside.)

You can make your own coffee or tea in your room any time, and snacks such as granola bars, fresh fruit, and oatmeal are provided. I'm sorry to say that I no longer serve breakfast due to New York State laws which require a restaurant grade kitchen inspection.

There are three creeks that cascade down through Ithaca and each has many falls to view. My house is about a half mile from scenic Six-Mile Creek Gorge that is filled with walking trails and amazing waterfalls, but there is also Fall Creek and Cascadilla Creek that have trails and beautiful viewing.

I have lived in this house for 20 years and in Ithaca for 30 years, so if you need any suggestions for sightseeing, hikes, and restaurants, I'd be glad to pass on my favorites!

Some places to visit: The beautiful New York State Parks--Buttermilk Falls, Treman Gorge, Taughannock Falls, and Watkins Glen are all close by. Corning Glass Museum is an hour away. Wineries are abundant on Cayuga, Seneca, and Keuka Lakes. Right in Ithaca we have 2 local coffee roasters, local chocolate maker, local ice cream maker, micro-breweries, and a specialty olive oil importer. Restaurants cover most all ethnic cuisines. (Can you tell I love Ithaca?!)

I look forward to meeting you! I know your trip to Ithaca will be a great getaway!

Your room and the adjacent porch provide a nice space for your visit, but you are welcome to use the outdoor patio and my yard for sitting and relaxing in good weather.

I'd love to suggest places to visit in the area. Just ask! But if you have your own ideas and agenda, that's great as well!

Ithaca has many neighborhoods that each have their own neighborhood pride. Because Ithaca is situated at the southern end of Cayuga Lake there are three hills, with creeks/gorges in between, that define the space. There is West Hill, East Hill, and South Hill. (north is taken up by the lake) My house is on East Hill which is dominated by Cornell.

My neighborhood is "Belle Sherman," named after the Elementary School that is just 3 blocks from my house. My neighborhood is made up of houses with families, many of whom work at Cornell. There is a shopping area nearby--East Hill Plaza--with a grocery, gym, pharmacy, liquor store, and bagel shop.

This is a very quiet neighborhood without a lot of traffic, bordered by Cornell student housing in the Collegetown neighborhood. My street has no sidewalks and parking is free.

Règlement intérieur
L'entrée dans les lieux se fait à partir de 16:00
Départ avant 10:00

The House rules are pretty relaxed. I will be giving your own key so you can come and go as you please. I prefer quiet after 10pm so that we can all sleep, but that just means that if you come in late, keep your noise low. I hope you have a pleasant stay!

Katrina's home was the perfect place for a short trip to Ithaca. The house was centrally located; and the room was private and a super peaceful place to rest. We would definitely stay at Katrina's again next time we are in town.

Very quiet, residential neighborhood. Older house with lots of charm and cool art work. We had 3 people, so it was just a tiny bit crowded with the addition of the air mattress. The patio area off the room was really nice. Snacks/coffee/tea/fridge/hair dryer/hot pot were a nice addition. The shared bathroom is small/basic but adequate. Katrina is really nice! There was no TV, which I liked but my husband didn't! I would definitely stay there again. Very close to Ithaca College and Commons.

Thanks for your feedback Fran. There is a small lighted cosmetic mirror in the bedroom next to the hair dryer, but it was folded up so I guess you didn't see it. I can make to point it out to guests in the future. Sorry about that! The room is very comfortable for 2 people, but you are right about the addition of the air mattress. It gets a little tight! It was nice meeting you all. Have a great spring!

I had a wonderful weekend stay from beginning to end! The location in a quiet residential neighborhood in upper Collegetown was convenient to the Cornell campus, where I spent the majority of my visit. I enjoyed conversations with Katrina over morning coffee and muffins! Her warmth and friendliness created a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere that added so much to my overall experience. The guest room, as well as her entire home, was cozy and inviting. I'm already planning a return in the spring, on my next trip to the Ithaca area!

Katrina's house was very easy to find and the neighborhood is just adorable. The location was just perfect for is as it was close to Cornell's campus as well as The Commons. We truly enjoyed staying at her home. She even allowed us to adjust our guest count and provided an air mattress for us that was ready upon our arrival. Katrina is a wonderful host providing everything you could want as a visitor. She is also an artist and her home is tastefully decorated with her beautiful paintings. If you have children, be sure to ask her about the children's books she has authored. We would definitely stay at her home again!

The neighborhood was very quiet, but still in close proximity to Cornell University, which was my reason for visiting Ithaca. I walked to campus on my middle of three days here (about 30 mins) - you can take the trail along the Cascadilla Gorge if you are so inclined. Katrina was warm and kind and there were lots of little details throughout the house that made me feel extra welcome. The room is large and spacious, with two desks, a mini fridge, hot water kettle, and other nice amenities. The bathroom is just outside the door and shared with Katrina. She provided a simple breakfast of bagels or muffins and coffee or tea each morning, which was very welcome, as there are no restaurants nearby and parking in Ithaca can be a bit nightmarish. Next time I have to visit Cornell's archives, I will definitely be staying here again!

My jobs and my hobbies are all about making art and communicating. I love it!

I work full-time at a non-profit that encourages families to read to their young children so they will grow up loving books and reading. My part in that is to create the many posters, fliers, booklets, e-news, newsletters and other visual communications to get our message to families in many different ways.

I also do free-lance layout and design, children's book illustrations, and paintings. My artwork hangs on all the walls in my house, so you'll see my different styles.

I like taking photographs, walking, reading, playing cards, gardening, yoga, cooking, sewing, dancing... I also love talking to people and learning about all the different interests and professions people have.

Ithaca is a place of multiple and varied opinions, lifestyles, and ethnic backgrounds. This cultural richness makes for a wonderful community to live in, raise children, and to visit!
