Description
Description

A very beautiful traditional, yet modern wooden Thai-style house is located in Amphawa, Samut Songkram, on Meklong River, about 65 km South of Bangkok, one of Bangkok residents' favorite day-and weekend travel destinations.

Darawati is different from others in Amphawa in its wooden structure and style, which is traditional Thai. Sit on high stilts the master bedroom on the west wing of the house accommodates a family of 4 on 2 mattresses laid next to each other on the wooden floor. The mattresses are covered by light white mosquito nets. This is an authentic traditional Thai bedroom, with an air conditioner, and 2 windows. The sister bedroom on the east wing accommodates 2 guests with a real wooden bed. The bedroom has 4 windows open to the lush green environment around the house.

Most outstanding characters of Darawati are its wooden and traditional Thai architecture and the green surrounding provided by lots of trees in the house compound and the neighborhood. Guests will have the access to both the traditional Thai atmosphere of the countryside, and the modern lifestyle with all modern amenities, including air conditioner, refrigerator, open-roof bathroom, and a traditional Thai living room and front and back porch in the open air. Internet access through high speed wi-fi is provided.

Guests are welcome to participate in occasional social events in the house compound. Breakfast is included. Other meals are not included, but can be arranged on request.

The neighborhood is rural and friendly. There are several Buddhist temples in Amphawa, one of these is located just across the road from the house. There is a small canal to the east of the house which is connected with Maeklong River, and the well known floating market, one of the most popular tourist attraction of Amphawa. Guest can row a boat in the canal, passing through fruit orchards and villages, to the floating market. Boat rowing in the canal offers great fun and beautiful experience in the Thai countryside life. It takes about 25-30 minutes from the house to the floating market.
This activity, however, needs be assisted by the host, who is skillful in boat rowing and knows the terrain. Guest has to request and agree with the host in advance, with no additional cost. This is to make sure that the host is available for the activity. For guests who has the skill in boat rowing, they may do it on their own. Boat will be provided.
Because Amphawa is a well-developed tourist area, there plenty of possibilities for daily tour activities.

Several possibilities to get around in Amphawa. Renting a car or scooters are possible. Public transport to and from Amphawa to Maeklong downtown and other neighboring towns is possible through local bus, tuk-tuk and van.

The host is a local tour guide. He can offer useful tips and assistance for guests to experience local life and tourist activities. However, sometimes he may away for work during guest's stay, in which case, his wife will interact with guests instead. A small inconvenience may be that she doesn't speak English well enough.
