We stayed a week at Jimbo's place. The nature & surroundings are beautiful. Lots of things to see & do in the area. Jimbo & his family are very nice & helpful. The place is sweet. The outside-kitchen area is quite basic & small. For 2 people it's alright. For sharing it's a bit too small, since there is just one table. The only thing which was a little disturbing were the 3 dogs who were barking a lot. Otherwise we enjoyed our last very relaxing days of our long Latinamerica-trip there...
Beautiful people with nice accommodations. A little far from town but great for hiking and experiencing the outdoors. The family does have 3 dogs that are a little loud and territorial. The cancellation policy says flexible but after canceling one night we were unable to get our money back and instead received (beautiful) personal artwork. Overall nice place to stay if you love dogs and enjoy a great location for hiking.
Jimbo and Mares are excellent hosts, they were very accommodating and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed our stay with several music jams and pizza night! Mares is a master clay artist, she gave us pottery classes and I made a pre Columbus water instrument. We also met some cool people that were staying there as well. It was very nice to have a place to cook after eating out for over a month. Their house is a nice place to rest and relax. They also offer some tours to the local Mountain Apu pitusiray and other mystical sites off the tourist path.
Absolut empfehlenswerte Hosts. Ich komme sehr gerne wieder!
Jimbo and his wife are very kind and helpful in so many ways. If your wanting a relaxing mellow getaway then this is your place. This home is more secluded with a beautiful view of mountains and nature. Don't let the secludedness stir you away as there is easy access and many Tut tut taxi that will take you into town for under 2 solos. You'll get to experience Jimbo and his great music and his family spiritual vibes. The 2 story room is cute and comfortable. I'm not sure if the sheets were fresh but other than that it was a good stay and would recommend it.
What a treat to end my trip at Jimbo and Mares' house! They seem to have found the secret to a happy life and have let me be part of it. Jimbo came to pick me up from the plaza and then showed me all the instruments and art pieces that he has made with his wife or collected throughout the years. (He plays all of them.) I also got to play some djembe with them and their friend/third band member Yemo (who is also an impressively multitalented musician/singer/writer/and more as well as a beautiful human being). We cooked and ate delicious vegetarian food together. I enjoyed every moment of my peaceful walks around the village, the mountains, by the river and the creeks. Along the way, I met some local characters and drank some chicha. In addition to their musical talents, Jimbo and Mares also offer workshops and sound healing sessions for which I will definitely come back in the future. I did not want to leave the house and I feel deeply grateful for having the chance to be around such loving, warm, playful and creative human beings. I will forever remember what it has taught me about living life with heart.
