Our family cottage with 3 bedrooms plus 1 bunk room. Water property in White Fish Dunes State Park, walking distance to Lake Michigan and Cave Point. Perfect place to spend a summer week/weekend with family or friends. VERY kid friendly!

Le logement

Our old traditional Norse cottage sits on shallow and sandy Clark Lake in White Fish Dunes State Park. Through our back yard is a short hike through a beautiful forest to the main dunes of Lake Michigan and Cave Point State Park.
The location is what makes this place so unique. It's on quiet Clark Lake with White Fish Dunes State Park literally in its back yard. There are multiple trails you can hike or take a bike to to get to Lake Michigan about a half mile away.

This cottage has been in my family my whole life. It's old and a bit dated, but the feel of the place is magical. We spend days outside playing in the water, lounging on the deck, playing shuffle board or badminton in the yard. Take any of our numerous bikes to the 'big beach' or explore Cave Point just down the road. There is also a boat launch if you'd like to bring your boat up here with you.

Enjoy the old charm and get away from it all. The place is super kid friendly (or adult) with lots of games and cards up here. The lake is shallow and usually very warm, perfect for small kids or playing frisbee, etc. We have a canoe which is also really fun to take out and explore the hidden lilly pond.

Accès des voyageurs

The entire cottage! Come up alone or with family and friends. We have a big parking area in the back lot. There are bikes and a canoe to use at your disposal, a bbq and fire pit, and cut wood to make fires inside at night.

Autres remarques

Our cottage is on a quiet private street with neighbors on each side but the state park forest across the street. Everyone is very friendly and usually busy with families visiting over the weekends. Nights are quiet and peaceful.

Please just try to leave the place as found. We'll take care of washing the linens.

Règlement intérieur

Please keep it down during the night and bring the activities inside at a decent hour.

Make sure to keep the all shed and garage doors closed and raccoons and other critters like to get into the garbage.

No smoking inside & no pets

We do have a holding tank so please use water VERY sparingly. If you do use the indoor showers please be quick. We use eco friendly shampoos to bathe off in the lake (which is also super fun) and we use a plastic bin in the sink for dishes which we empty outside once its full.

It was perfect spot for a family getaway or small family reunion. It has lots of places and spaces within the property for one or a few people to hangout or place. And a separate table perfect for a puzzle! With the State Park literally on the opposite side of the street, there is wonderful access to some of Door County's finest amenities! Lake Michigan and Cave Point, and miles to hike or bike. Roads are very smooth around Door County for the long-distance bikers. The place has the perfect mix of furniture and electronics, so that everyone can comfortably be together -- whether reading, playing games or just talking or watching a movie. I recommend bringing your own iPod player and a fan or two -- just in case, and there is a lovely copse of trees for a hammock (bring your own). This place is really magical and we were all able to grow closer together during our stay. We only wish we had booked it for two weeks!

This house is excellent. We came here to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday, and I can't think of a single negative. Grandpa loved waking up to the water and the grandkids were constantly surrounded by adventure. The owner was accessible and communicative, initially warning us about our water usage, which wasn't a big of deal. Our days were filled with local wineries, festivals, canoeing, (some supersoakering) and just relaxing. Our evenings were comfortable, as we grilled, played board games, and toasted s'mores in the fire pit. The beds were great, the house has obviously been kept by someone who truly loves it, and we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. I wish we had more time to spend there. We're super grateful.

The location was excellent. we rented because our son was getting married a few doors down and the situation worked great for us. We did not need to utilize all of the fun toys they had in the shed (bikes, boat, etc...) but could imagine it to be a great vacation for a family when the weather is conducive. The lake was beautiful, clear as glass. i'm sure it would be great in warmer weather. We had elderly grandparents staying with us and the availability of first floor bedroom and bathroom was great. For our purposes, this worked out great and could see it being even better in summertime.

This was my first time booking via AirBNB and it was a piece of cake. We loved the cottage and location and everyone(those renting and our guests) raved about it. Erika and Christie were both receptive to any questions and very friendly. The only issue(and it wasn't really an issue as we knew of it going in) was the holding tank. We were always thinking about water use! But we probably agonized over it more than necessary. And there were a lot of mosquitos! But Clark Lake is beautiful, we made use of the canoe, and spent many evenings around the blazing firepit. I will recommend this cottage to others.

Erika’s cottage is the ideal setting for a family vacation. During our weeklong family gathering we hiked, biked, canoed, fished, combed the Lake Michigan beach, grilled dinners, went tubing off a pontoon boat we rented for the lake, had campfires, played cards, read aloud around the wood stove, attended the theater, visited Washington Island, sampled wineries, and one evening watched an incredible display of the Northern Lights. A month’s stay could not exhaust all the entertainment possibilities. The cottage is as neat as a pin, cozy, with comfortable beds, and the view of Clark Lake from the dining area and living room always attracts your gaze. The Lake Michigan beach and the limestone caves at Cave Point are a short walk away on quiet roads and trails through the woods. One night we had 11 family members and that was tight at bedtime, but doable. The back patio, pier, and campfire area provide plenty of space, chairs, and tables for visiting during the day. Erika’s family was very welcoming and completely opened their home to our family. Erika stayed in touch with us during the week and her grandparents, who own the cottage and live about an hour away, promptly answered any questions that popped up. Our family had a very memorable vacation, one we hope to repeat at Erika’s cottage in the years to come.

Erika was very easy to work with, responsive before and during our stay. The house was cozy and Clark Lake a beautiful, peaceful spot. Close and easy access to Lake Michigan and Whitefish state park. Be prepared for staggering showers since the hot water heater is small. We managed fine with 8 people, but its, wise to think of this as a cabin and a lititle bit rustic. We were warned in advance which helped with our expectations. Loved our trip to Door County.

** Note that many reviews below are a mix of my Wisconsin cabin and old apartment in Chicago**

I've been an AirBnB host for the last 4 years in both Chicago, Bogotá, and now Vermont. My husband and I are photographers, filmmakers and educators which tend to regularly take us out of our apartment. We also live half of the year in Colombia where he is from and have another apartment on AirBnB there as well!
