3 bedroom apartment with deck on Hudson River!
Stunning second floor apartment with private porch, 2 living rooms, sunny kitchen, shared lush backyard, garden & deck on Hudson!
Close to RPI, Sage, Emma, HVCC; short distance to Albany, Saratoga.
This apartment is on the second floor of a quaint house on a relatively quiet one-way street. The style inside our apartment could be described as cute, shabby/chic with a little artistic flare, opening up to a beautiful river view.
Our furnished space is an excellent place for short visits from a few days to a few months. We can easily accommodate RPI parents and staff, EMPAC artists-in-residence, corporate travelers, displaced home owners due to remodeling, mortgage closing or an emergency. Let us put up your out-of-town guests looking for a little more comfort and spaciousness than what a hotel can offer.
We have three small bedrooms each with a bed--one queen mattress and two full size beds with futon mattresses. (We also have a futon couch which makes into an extra full size bed in the "river living room," although this couch is not as comfy as beds in bedrooms). There's also a outdoor couch on the 2nd floor deck, that I (Branda) have been known to sleep on in the summer, because I love the sound of the river and birds and sleeping with the stars, but it isn't really comfortable for sleeping and you need to be short!
So much to love! We have the best of both worlds -- an urban neighborhood with a back yard sitting on one of the most beautiful natural spots you could find! Look out at a view of the confluence of the mighty Hudson and Mohawk Rivers.
A visit to our River Home is not only offers a beautiful view, but a direct opportunity to learn about the history of the beginning of the Industrial Revolution! We're surrounded by historic places to explore, directly across from Peebles Island and Lock 2 on the Erie Canal! Plus, just a short walk down our street is writer Herman Melville's home, where he began his career as a writer with his first two novels "Typee and Oomoo!"
Accès des voyageurs
You have access to the entire second floor, which includes a lovely private porch with a gorgeous view of the river!
There's a little couch on the porch, and on a beautiful night one can view reflections of the stars on the shimmering water.
If you are looking for a quaint 2nd floor apartment in a working class neighborhood in a historic spot in Troy with an exceptional view, we hope you would find this to your liking.
Guests have access to the shared back yard and deck, with a trap door and ladder down to the Hudson River shore. The deck has a picnic table, and is a spectacular place to have your morning coffee or even do yoga! There's lovely flowers in the yard.
If you want to bring a kayak or canoe, there is easy access... you can put your kayak in just 1/2 block North of us, where you can drive right down to the river's edge. And, you can bring your kayak or canoe back to the River House shore, tie it up just off our deck, and walk up the deck stairs and be home.
Sometimes, directly across the river, the town of Waterford offers special celebrations, such as the annual Tugboat Round-up (9/5/14-9/7/14) with a weekend including the Tugboat Parade on the river, music, food and vendors, followed by fireworks at dusk (9/7/14).
On our River House deck, we are treated to a fabulous view, away from the crowds across the river, of the boat parade and fireworks!
The light of the sunset is exceptional, and we are in a very historic spot at the confluence of the Hudson and the Mohawk Rivers. Some people swim in the river and eat the fish, but we recommend against it. Swimming in the Hudson is not recommended, however there are many beautiful spots around for swimming.
We have on street parking, and there is always something available on the block. (Please note: you cannot park in the driveway North of our house, for that is neighbor's property, not ours.) However, you should always find parking available on the street, up at the end of the block or around the block.

Our beautiful back yard and deck on the river is shared with the 1st floor tenants, who are very wonderful people! They are a young couple, with a quiet elderly gentleman who is developmentally delayed.
Our downstairs neighbors have truly enjoyed the guests so far, but they generally like to keep to themselves and they appreciate guests following the rules, which include being quiet after midnight and not having parties. They are quiet, and they appreciate guests who are quiet too. There is a barbeque and there is a washer/dryer, and of course a nice deck with an awesome view, which they happily share.
In Troy, there's historic architecture, arts and cultural spaces, academic institutions, and places to eat and enjoy life!

Enjoy a connection to the natural environment. The apartment is very comfortable with open windows and ceiling fans, plus a big screen door opening to the river. There are beautiful breezes from the Hudson River, and we have additional fans. However, in the event of unusually warm weather, there is an air conditioner.
We are in a residential neighborhood. Out of respect to our neighbors, we request that there be no parties.
Our sweet 1st floor tenants have requested that we observe quiet time after midnight.
