The 2700 square foot lodge on 300 acres in the forest, private and beautiful, yet close enough to explore Yosemite. This listing is for renting a private room with bath. We are on solar power, have swimming holes, & trails for hiking.

The 2700 sq. ft lodge is new, simple, yet elegant. It will suit a very wide range of needs, from the budget traveler, to someone looking for a well appointed space for their special event.

We are a destination with its own beauty and charm, a beautiful valley, a former Yosemite Miwok Indian village site. We make all our power from solar, yet have a new and modern house with most all amenities. We boast of no cell or internet service, which means you can truly have a vacation from it all!

We are perfect for families large and small.

This site began the first tourist trail into Yosemite in the 1860s, a trail that John Muir walked.) History tours are available.

There are miles of trails, swim holes and a limestone cave to explore.

There are many things to learn about: living off the grid on alternative energy systems, the Miwok Indians and their village here, and the gold rush period that followed, gold panning, sustainable forestry, edible wild greens, etc! See the old rock work that built the Coulterville free trail into Yosemite in the 1850s and the old stone buildings still standing today.

Guests can hike our 300 acres of trails and have access to two swim holes, a cave to explore, and nearby swim holes as well. We have a fully equipped kitchen for guests if you wish to prepare your meals. Also a propane BBQ as well as a charcoal bbq (bring your own charcoal). The game room with ping pong and lots of board games will keep everyone busy playing together! We have a house phone in the event of a medical emergency. (Note: the second kitchen - commercial kitchen - is not available for guests.)

We will be there for our guests as much or as little as they want. We are very familiar with Yosemite and the trails. We can help you plan a memorable trip through the park, based on your needs, and help you to avoid the crowds while having an awesome Yosemite experience!

The quiet peacefulness and wide open spaces make this a place to really unwind. We love the quiet, waking up to the birds chirping, the clear flowing water, the remoteness of the land.

Near Yosemite, Greeley Hill, and Buck Meadows, in the Stanislaus National Forest, (Coulterville zip code).

You will need a car to access our place. We are in the Stanislaus National Forest, 11 miles from either Buck Meadows, or Greeley Hill. We are on a County maintained dirt road that is assessable by a regular 2 wheel drive vehicle pretty much year round, with few exceptions. In the dry months your car will get dusty! We truly are away from it all, and a great destination unto itself, yet close enough to make this your stopover to and from Yosemite, as well as home base on your journeys into the park.

Do not use GPS as it misleads. Use the map I provide once you book. You should try if at all possible to arrive before dark, since navigating in the forest at night can be more difficult, at least for your first drive in. You will need to arrive by 9PM. You can purchase your food from the Greeley Hill market before 6PM in winter, and before 7PM in summer. arranged in

Because we make our own power, we cannot have any devices that use power to heat, used here. The list of items that can not be used include blow dryers, curling irons, toasters, electric coffee pots, rice cookers, crock pots, heating pads, etc. For coffee we have a french press, or filters and a cone; for toast we use a griddle.

Règlement intérieur
L'entrée dans les lieux se fait entre 16:00 et 21:00

We are a no smoking facility, outdoors is OK. Quiet time is 10 PM if sharing the house with others not in your group.

l'endroit est tout particulièrement magique avec un accueil parfait de la part de Lynne pour éviter à chacun de se complaire dans des difficultés qu'il faut oublier (la route :) par exemple)

We had a great time staying at Lynn's. She was awesome with communication all the way from me asking questions before I booked to driving directions on how to get to her place to giving recommendations for sites in Yosemite. Her place is about 40 minutes outside of Yosemite on the north side. We came from Vegas so it was quite a drive for us, but 2 hours were dedicated to driving through the park to get to the north end. There is no cell service near or on her property so be sure to follow the directions she gives you. She does have a landline that you can use to make calls so that was nice! We stayed in the basement bedroom and the beds were very comfy. Bathroom very clean. You share the kitchen with other house guests, and everyone was very pleasant and polite. Only thing is no keys so if you have valuables leave them in your car. Although we left all our stuff in our room and had no issues!

It was great staying in Kowana Valley with Lynn! The house was nice and Lynn was a wonderful host. She gave us recommendations about hikes, was easy to contact and she even let me borrow her swim suit because I forgot mine!

Lynn was very welcoming and helpful. The house is in a lovely, quiet location and the room was perfect for our stay. But be warned: there is a 10 mile, 30-45 minute drive down a bumpy dirt track to get there. We had an expensive hire car that wasn't suited to it.

Really Matt? It is 4.2 miles (verified by odometer) on a county maintained road and takes no more than 12 min. I do let it be known on the listing as well as the info letter I send, that there is a dirt section of 4.2 miles that, in the summer months will cause your car to be dusty.
