Welcome to your next Air B&B experience. This is a 3 bedroom home that has been updated and restored in keeping with it's period charm. it can sleep up to 6 people.

The bedrooms and living areas are carpeted and the restored tiled bathroom has a choice of a bathtub or separate shower.

If you're driving there is private off street parking on the property.

The bedrooms are two double rooms (1 with a king size bed and the other with two singles that we usually have placed together to make another king size ). The third bedroom has a double that can sleep two if you're cuddly cozy up types. This bedroom is accessed from the patio area at the back of the house but is hooked up to the house central heating system so heats up well in winter. And while we're on winter, nights can be cold in Castlemaine so all beds have electric blankets fitted over those months.

You have access to the whole house. We supply bedding, towels, all kitchen cutlery, pots pans, plates and utensils. You can settle in, cozy up and enjoy home cooked meals if you want to.

Houses of this vintage are generally not built for modern eco living but we are improving our environmental footprint. The ceilings and walls are fully insulated and we've installed solar panels providing sufficient electricity during daylight hours to supply all household needs including heating and cooling.

For warm winter nights the house has gas fired central heating ducted to all rooms.

We have an LCD Flat screen TV, DVD/Blue Ray player and easy to use sound system (plug in your iPod or phone to play your own music). We make available a varied CD & DVD library as well as a range of books.

PLEASE NOTE INTERNET-TELEPHONE ARRANGEMENTS - We don't usually supply an internet or telephone connection. Bring your own mobile phone, Castlemaine has 4G internet and phone coverage with the main telco's particularly Telstra or Optus. If you are travelling from overseas and don't plan to have an Australian data plan on your phone talk to us about arranging a limited connection for you (enough for email and basic web browsing but not enough for data heavy music or video streaming).

You will have access to the whole house, garden and off street parking.

We can be available by phone for any day to day queries during your stay. Otherwise the property is yours to enjoy and we respect your privacy

Castlemaine has a slightly hilly terrain but most people find it a comfortable 20 minute or so stroll into Castlemaine's main shopping and services streets where the town's cafe lifestyle, friendly pubs, fine dining and period charms are plentiful.

You are also very close to bush walking tracks and next door are the beautiful gardens of the Buda historical house.

There are many places of historical interest within a short drive from Castlemaine and the visitor information centre in the town can help you plan local sightseeing.

As mentioned there are some slopes to navigate but almost everything you'd want in Castlemaine is within a 30 minute walk from our home, so if you travel by train you can feel relaxed about getting around on foot. There is also a local taxi service, call 131 008 to make a booking.

There are regular trains operated by V Line travelling from Melbourne's Southern Cross railway station directly to Castlemaine (Bendigo Line). The house is a 5 minute taxi trip or a 30 minute walk from the railway station. To walk, head up Cambell St from the station, turn left onto Barker and then in 3 blocks, turn right onto Bull St.

Flying into Melbourne and hiring a car? Castlemaine just over an hour's drive from the airport via the Calder Freeway. First take to the Tullamarine Freeway and then take the exit marked Bendigo and follow the signs to the Calder Freeway. Once on the Calder it is just over hour's drive

Castlemaine is a gorgeous old gold mining town. It has all the charms of a small town with many of the benefits of larger city such as great cafe's and restaurants and a thriving arts and entertainment scene. Check out Castlemaine's various garden and arts festivals.

Respect our neighbour's right to quiet enjoyment of their property: no loud music and please no late night conversations in the outside dining area at back of house.

When you retire for thee night please ensure the back patio light is off as it can shine through to our neighbour's property.

Robert & Noel's place really feels like home, complete with a great collection of books, music & DVDs, & generous provisions throughout. Located conveniently, a short walk from the centre of town, & next to the historic Buda House, make sure you have enough down time to take it all in. Highly recommended.

Our stay at Robert and Noels place was lovely. Perfect for our weekend away. The house itself was beautiful with great directions and easy access getting settled was very stress free even with the young kids. The area was also lovely and a nice walk to dinner and cafes for breakfast

A beautiful home. It was perfect for a group of long lost friends catching up for a wedding. The rooms are large and spacious. And the beds so so comfortable. We were made to feel so welcome by Robert and Noel through their communication with us.

Robert & Noel's home is lovely - the kitchen is well appointed and there were several heating options, which meant it wasn't too much of a shock coming from 28 degrees to 10 degrees. The beds were comfortable and the gardens and outdoor area would be lovely in the warmer weather.

We live in a Melbourne inner city neighbourhood but love travel, particularly to great cities where we attempt to get to know them as locals do. Favourite destinations are London, Berlin, Seville and Lisbon, where we have used Air B&B. It is so much better than staying in hotels.

In 2014 we listed our getaway house in Castlemaine in country Victoria for AirB&B'ers, and we have had some great guests.

Castlemaine is a seriously gorgeous old gold mining town a close drive or train journey from Melbourne, and we spend many weekends there. It is inhabited by quite a few folks from inner Melbourne who have moved there to enjoy a country life. They brought with them a love of good coffee, fabulous wine and great eating and combined this with the laid back living experience that progressive country towns provide. It is a great place to kick back and relax.
