Seahouses offers a wide array of facilities including tearooms, restaurants, pubs and shops just around a mile from Seaglass. Boat trips to the Farne Islands run from the nearby harbour. The islands are famous for their nesting sea birds and grey seal colonies. Horse riding is available in North Sunderland around a mile away and there’s an impressive golf course in Seahouses too.
The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, protected by its dramatic fortress, is only 2 miles north with its wide expanse of golden sandy beaches and where the tidal island of Lindisfarne, locally known as Holy Island and the birthplace of Christianity, can be viewed. A further 2 miles up the coastline brings you to Waren Mill, which is steeped in history. Once an important port, its harbour has long since disappeared, silted up beneath the sands of the estuary. Budle Bay is a bird sanctuary and at low tide, a vast expanse of mud flats is home to thousands of sea and land birds making this location a haven for bird watchers.
The sweep of golden sands at Beadnell Bay is popular with watersport enthusiasts only 2 miles south, and the elegant Georgian town of Berwick, which straddles the salmon-rich River Tweed, is 17 miles north. The market town of Alnwick, with its own castle, offers many facilities a few miles inland. Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction with its grand cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe! Seaglass is an excellent choice for the gathering of families and friends from which to explore this stunning Heritage coastline designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Beach 200 yards.
