Renovated with tranquillity in mind, Moon House is a Grade II listed, former Congregational church and Sunday school built in 1842 for the people of Rothbury, and is a peaceful and relaxing space for guests to enjoy. This detached property radiates natural light which illuminates the rooms, and was a contemporary art gallery before becoming a holiday home. Featuring high ceilings and an open-plan living space, it also has a kitchen with a French-style range and an additional seating area which opens out onto the garden. Ideal for couples and friends, Moon House offers two bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor. A large glass balcony area runs along the first floor level. This provides a unique space, which also has a kingsize bed set back from the balcony, as well as a contemporary en-suite bathroom and dressing area. The sun catches the windows at all sides throughout the day, and there are two gardens to maximise the sun should you wish to sit and relax after a day exploring. With parking at the door, it is ideal for leaving the car behind and meandering a few yards to one of the pretty tea rooms or friendly pubs, the majority of which serve delicious food.
Rothbury is a pretty, historic town, with the National Trust’s Cragside House on the doorstep, where you can explore the house, which was the first to be lit by hydro-electricity, and its fantastic gardens awash with rhododendrons in summer. Rothbury is a good location for exploring in all directions, with Alnwick being only 12 miles away, where a visit to the grand castle and water gardens should not be missed. The Heritage Coast, with miles of golden and unspoilt beaches, is easily accessible, as is the fantastic Northumberland National Park, a Gold Tier park perfect for star gazing. A fabulous selection of water sports can also be found on Kielder Water, and there are lots of pretty villages to explore within easy driving distance. River walks are popular for those who are a bit more energetic, or discover the hills around the Coquet Valley. Beach 17 miles. Shop 250 yards, pub and restaurant 175 yards.
