This gorgeous upstairs room has a platform bed with an extra long queen natural latex mattress. There is a big desk and super cushy office chair for computer users, high speed internet and HBO free access.
The bathroom is shared with the other guest room next door and at times by me the host when I am in my office upstairs. You can take a shower or bath in our cute claw foot tub.
We created the Ganesha Light to juxtapose with the Buddha Tree room next door. The GL has an airy, light feel and the BT is rich and grounding. The GL is perfect for 2 or a real treat for one. The mattress is made of all latex natural rubber (perfect for wiggle worms) and is very supportive and comfortable. The room is simple and uncluttered with beautiful and uplifting light.
*** We have found that most guests like to check out the local cafes or restaurants for their epic gourmet Portland style breakfasts, but we also provide breakfast fixins for you to put together or cook if you like to start slow and have a nice homey morning. There is also free trade coffee and a nice tea assortment to choose from. Are you gluten free? With at least 3 days advanced notice we will do our best to accommodate that.:)
Accès des voyageurs
You have access to our kitchen, back dining/coffee room, living room and porch.
In the colorful kitchen you can cook and enjoy meals. The living room is nice to hang out in and check out our books or relax. There is even a fun foot massager (see pic) for after your long days of exploring around town. Sunny hangs out here a lot and will reward your attention with healing vibes and purrs:) The large covered front porch is nice to enjoy the fresh Spring air.
Washer/dryer is available to guests staying over a week at $5 per load, however we do the laundry for you as our washer is so finicky. There are laundramats close by if you prefer to do your own:)
Échanges avec les voyageurs
Clear and timely communication around logistics of arrival times and departures is expected so that we can plan for you. We recommend for international guests to add international text access to their phones so that we may communicate with you when needed.
The house has common areas so guests and hosts cross paths. It is nice to share conversation and information in these areas when in the flow:). Of course your guest room is your private oasis and personal relaxing space.
Within just a one mile radius, the area is BOOMing!! All kinds of fantastic restaurants, cafes, and specialty shops are becoming quite famous and others are just in the opening phase which is really exciting! Some favorite restaurants and in the top 38 are Tasty n Sons (fabulous gourmet locally sourced), Sweedeedee, Ned Ludds, and Ox, all within walking distance.
There are quite a few cafe's like Poa (brand new, Bushel and Peck, and Tula's (deliciously gluten free) which give you wireless access as well.
There are some truly great microbreweries and wine bars also in this small radius, so no need to drive anywhere, and the famous "BikeBar" which is wonderfully fun.
If you like to bike, there is "Everybody Bike" rental shop just down the street. Northeast is hands down the best area to ride a bike and you will see all kinds of marvelous bikes around here!.
Our neighborhood is a wonderful multi-cultural mix of many ethnicities, which is rare in Portland. We know all of our surrounding neighbors and it feels especially good to have that kind of community:)
Many guests just like to walk but it is nice to have wheels when you need them:). Here are some suggestions:
Just a few minutes walk to the closest bus stop: and a five min walk to Everybody's Bike Rentals:
For a car about town when you need it, *'Car to Go' and *'Zipcar' * FYI They require access cards that you must apply for online at least a week before you leave on your travels!!
Another option if you want a bigger vehicle or for more than one day, check into Getaround Peer to Peer
There are 2 other guest rooms in the house. The Buddha Tree Room is next door and you will have a shared bathroom with bath/shower clawfoot. The Nataraj is downstairs and has its own private bathroom. The kitchen, dining area, living room and porch are common areas. The house is very big so there is plenty of room to find your own space or connect with others if you cross paths.

I am a host with a buzzing schedule, yet when it is in the flow I enjoy connecting and making sure guests are comfortable and happy. Sharing a conversation over tea is a lovely treat and I have been truly inspired by all the wonderful stories, cross pollenating of knowledge, and large doses of laughter!:)
Traveling is a huge part of my life. One of my very favorite countries is India...hence the colors and themes in my house:) I also loved my journeys through Western and Eastern Europe, Southern Japan, Belize, Mexico, Bali, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, to name a few! Next stop, Iceland!:)
My other interests are too many to list but some are practicing yoga, dancing, hiking, swimming, stargazing, storytelling, camping, performance art, self-empowerment through lifestyle and diet, sustainable living, slow food, photography, beautifulizing spaces, making up words, laughing, sharing food with family and friends, and hanging out with Sunny our handsome tabby cat.:)
