Charming 1+ br apartment in the beautiful, vibrant, family-friendly Uptown neighborhood. Fully-equipped kitchen, lots of linens and supplies, everything necessary for a business or vacation trip. Walk to restaurants, lakes, and hundreds of shops.
Welcome to the vibrant, diverse Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis! Located just a few blocks from Lake Calhoun, Lake & Hennepin and Lyn-Lake shopping districts, this charming, vintage, non-smoking apartment (located within our duplex home; a "shotgun" apartment completely self-contained with a separate entrance) is available for rent year round.
Please note that we welcome guests of all ages, nationalities, races, religions (or lack thereof), languages and sexual orientation. No discrimination here, no profiling - just a warm welcome to all!
Relax in the cozy living room, complete with beautiful gas fireplace (especially nice in the winter), plenty of books and board games, eclectic original art, and a small flat-screen television (network stations and a few cable channels but nothing fancy). High-speed wifi throughout for your streaming and internet needs, and a personalized guide to the neighborhood, with lots of restaurant recommendations and directions. Brand-new handheld remote-controlled heat, air conditioning and dehumidifier provide instant comfort throughout the apartment no matter the season. There's also a brand-new whole-house carbon water filter, so all the water in the house is free of chlorine and extra-safe for drinking.
The apartment comprises the right half of the main floor of our duplex home and features one full bedroom, a queen fold-out futon couch in the living room and a second fold-out queen futon in the sitting/dining room. (A 1+ bedroom designation would be most accurate.) All the rooms are in a straight row: living room, bedroom, bathroom/hallway, sitting/dining room, kitchen. The serene bedroom features a queen-size bed with new mattress and memory foam topper, and 100% cotton sheets and quilts and towels. Plenty of extra pillows, including brand-new memory foam pillows.
The sitting/dining room contains a dining nook (seating for four), a children's corner with toys and books, an overhead fan and a fold-down double futon couch. The kitchen is fully supplied with pots and pans, dishes, a full-sized refrigerator and gas stove/oven, microwave, coffeemaker, French press, rice cooker, toaster and utensils. (No dishwasher.) Please note that our kitchen photos are out of date: the walls, cabinets and floor are all refinished. The bathroom, while small, contains both tub and shower.
The apartment has two closets and plenty of drawer space. Extras such as a hair dryer, iron and ironing board are included. Free on-street parking is plentiful and you can often find a spot right in front of the house. Flower gardens surround both the house and the boulevard in season.
We love and welcome children of all ages. There are lots of toys and books for them in the apartment, along with baby supplies - a portable pack 'n play crib, a small stroller, a bouncy seat and a high chair - so you don't have to lug them along. Noise (crying babies, for example) doesn't bother us.
The Uptown and Lyn-Lake neighborhoods are renowned for their wide variety of restaurants, theaters, movies, shopping (both small indie shops and national branches), grocery stores both upscale and midscale, bars, music and people-watching. The apartment's "walk score" is 97 out of 100, which classifies it as a "walker's paradise."
If you like the great outdoors, you'll be in heaven. Bike trails, walking and running paths, sailing, canoe, kayak, paddleboarding, cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, swimming and no fewer than ten gyms and yoga studios are all located within a few blocks.
We are located three blocks in all directions from multiple bus lines, allowing quick access anywhere you wish to go in the metro area. The apartment is easily accessible via light rail and bus from the airport, so if you'd like to avoid the cost of a rental car during your visit to Minneapolis, it's entirely possible.
Minneapolis is a beautiful city year-round, and we invite you to come enjoy it in all seasons. We love sharing our neighborhood with others and would be happy to help you with any questions you might have.

In addition to the apartment, please feel free to use the front porch with its table and chairs and swing. If you'd like use of a small charcoal grill, just let us know. If you're arriving in winter with children, we have lots of sleds and saucers for your use, and we can give you directions to good nearby sledding hills.

I am a completely unobtrusive host (I myself dislike the hovering host syndrome) but happily available should you have questions or need anything, from restaurant and theater recommendations to insider tips on the best museums, places to take your children, runs around the lakes, and general sightseeing.
Our house and apartment are entirely non-smoking. Please keep noise moderate after midnight and before 5 a.m. Please wash all dishes before departure (no need to dry; just leave in the drain rack). Please note that the apartment does not have a washer or dryer, but there are laundromats within half a mile.
I am a writer who thrives on the freedom to work wherever I am. What do I love? Travel. Reading. Family and friends. Lively conversation. The great outdoors. Movies, both indie and b-grade blockbusters. Food, lots of it and well-made. Music, music, music and books, books, books.
As your host, I will be completely unobtrusive (I myself dislike the hovering host syndrome) but happily available should you need directions, restaurant/shopping recommendations, or walking and biking and running and gym tips. If I'm in a baking mood you might find a basket of cookies hanging from your door.
