Très bon chalet! Bien situé dans les Adirondacks et pas trop loin de Lake Placid.

I agree with other previous guests, the condition of the cabin is only a few small steps better than camping. The pictures in the listing are not current recent photos and they do not show some of the current distress the cabin is in. I don't care if it's the busy season or not, a tarp on a bedroom ceiling is simply unacceptable. The cleaning fees are a joke as there was dust and other"unknown" things on the kitchen table and throughout the cabin. The towels, linens and general condition of the cabin was excessively musty and damp. As stated by another review I had to call Steve to install smoke detectors, which he did the following afternoon. If you choose to stay here realize that this is not much better than camping. If you do decide to rough it here do yourself a favor and go to the animal refuge with kids to see where all the money from your rental is going as it is clear that it doesn't go to the upkeep and maintenance for the cabin. My family made it through our stay but after staying here once I would not stay here again. I would recommend spending more money for a better maintained property. The property is currently listed for sale and I can clearly see why. This cabin is in disrepair and should be leveled to the ground and rebuilt from scratch.

This place is worth no more than $75-100 dollars a night. Sure, its in a location that is close to lake placid and other hiking/ camping attractions. ( lakes, whiteface mountain, waterfalls, hiking trails, the outdoors), but the state of the house is worth lowering of the prize. There is significant water damage, and you can smell mold when you walk into the house. You are charged a $100 dollar fee for a space that feels dirty and dusty as soon as you walk in. The house looks decayed with furniture that looks to be about 50-years old (due to its state, not their style), has structured that is bending at every corner (doors, Walls, floor), carpet and fabrics that looked like they should had been thrown out, and feels tremendously unsafe. The doors make for easy entry. If the host were to lower the prize, this place would be great for those that look to have an outdoor adventure and don't necessarily care for neatness safety.

The deep woods cabin was exactly how Steve put it. The slanted walls and rooms were just that but nothing that bothered us by any means we had a great time at his place. The location is only 5 min drive to the ski lodge which was great and a bit longer into town but a one way taxi was only 20 dollars which we split between a few of us. He had the cabin warm and inviting when we arrived the beds were extremely comfortable. We used the hot tub on the first night and it felt great. He left a very useful packet of guides and rules to help out with any questions and was very easy to communicate with if needed anything. Very friendly man and I highly recommend if you are in the lake placid area staying at his place or not to go and see there wildlife refuge they run. See amazing animals up close and if Steve is there you can learn a lot about them too. We wouldn't hesitate to book one of his places again and will try to come back for a summer or fall trip

Great cabin in the middle of the woods. Only thing I would say be wary only a small stack of wood is provided. You must buy more if you want a fire. And it is a cabin, nothing more than that. But it is great! Good space in the fireplace room to hang out!

I was extremely disappointed by my stay at Deep Woods Cabin. We are a generally easygoing group of people and decided to make the best of the sub-par accommodations. Baseboards were dirty, floors needed to be vacuumed and there were cobwebs on the walls. We washed all of the dishes before we used them based on what we saw elsewhere. For a place that charges an $80 cleaning fee I would have expected higher standards. The house was described as "funky" and having "slightly slanted floors." I would describe it as "rough" and it was so slanted that doors had been cut to allow for the shifted door casings. There was a significant enough difference in the floors that beds were slanted despite being propped up by books and 4x4s. The house looks bright and well kept in photos when infact it is dark and dingy. The yard surrounding was full of debris and tarp fragments. The room I stayed in had a tarp covering the ceiling due to water damage and when we got a heavy rain storm the tarp was also slowly dripping water onto the floor and soaking the carpet. There were no batteries in the smoke detectors, which is a major safety concern considering the house is heated by space heaters. Stephen was quick to respond to my issues, which I could have addressed sooner, and was very accommodating after the fact. This place may be great for a group of college friends going skiing and drinking for the weekend but was misrepresented in photos and description and certainly not up to the standard that I would expect for a place marketed to families.

Great spot for a ski trip at Whiteface - the hot tub was awesome and the location beautiful. There was a family of deer right outside on our first day! Cozy and comfortable :)
