Lawers Mill is a converted former grain mill overlooking Loch Tay in the small hamlet of Lawers in Highland Perthshire. The mill was built around 1800 and is on the banks of the Lawers Burn, which once drove the mill wheel.

We carried out a full renovation in 2018-19 to bring it up to modern standards. It retains many original features such as the old mill workings in the rafters of the living room, natural stone internal walls, timber floors and the grinding wheel which is now the hearth.

Le logement
The accommodation is set over two floors. The upper floor, accessed either by a flight of stairs or an external door, has the main living area and kitchen.

The newly fitted kitchen has exposed beams and all modern appliances - a Rangemaster with induction hob and two ovens, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine/tumble dryer. There is also a pulley rack suspended from the ceiling which is very handy for drying walking gear!

A galleried landing leads to the living area with natural stone walls and exposed beams. A log burning stove stands on an original grinding stone. Some of the original winding gear also lends to the atmosphere of the room. Sliding doors lead to a balcony offering wonderful views over Loch Tay. There is comfortable seating and a large dining table. The wall mounted flat screen TV has Freesat channels.

Steps lead down to the 3 bedrooms: 1 king size, 1 double and 1 bunk bed room. There is a family bathroom with toilet and bath and a separate shower room with another toilet.
There is also a small snug downstairs with a television (with Freesat channels and a DVD player).

The sheltered garden has a picnic bench. A gate leads to a wooden bridge across the site of the former mill wheel and down to Lawers Burn. There is a slide and swing in the garden too for children.

The water is from a private supply. It is tested regularly and perfectly safe to drink.

There are two parking areas with plenty of space.

We allow one dog to stay on request.

The mill is located in one of the loveliest parts of Scotland and the surrounding area is renowned for its outstanding scenic beauty. It faces Loch Tay and, in the other direction, is Ben Lawers. Whether you plan to bag a few munros (there are plenty to choose from nearby), take some countryside walks or a safari on Loch Tay itself, there is plenty to see and do.

Within a 5 minute walk is the Ben Lawers Hotel which serves bar meals whilst Kenmore is about 7 miles away and provides day to day requirements including a general store/post office, hotels and The Courtyard which has an excellent bistro, delicatessen and shop. Killin, 8 miles away, also offers a range of shops. The main centre in the area is Aberfeldy which has a busy high street, cinema and numerous places to eat out.
