Maria's apartment is in a great location, near many restaurants, bars, and only a short walk from the subway. Despite its central location, the apartment is very quiet. I also want to note that the bed was very, very comfortable. Maria is very kind and inviting. She fed my pastries upon my morning arrival and made sure that my stay was comfortable.

Maria Jose and her daughter Cata were extremely hospitable and it was a pleasure to share their space. The place is small but cozy and safe. It was very clean and felt like a home, because it is. I was so happy to live with a family to feel a little grounded in a very busy and very vibrant city. The neighborhood couldn't have been better for me, because I dance tango and is in the middle of a lot of notable places. It was an easy walk, less than 15 minutes, to Villa Malcomb, La Bicicleta, La Viruta, Canning, and Fulgor. I even felt comfortable walking home very late and if I didn't feel like it I could always grab a taxi for less than 40 pesos. It was never a problem to come home late, just keep in mind that Maria Jose and her daughter rise early and have pretty "normal" schedules but they are very quiet and don't mind. I worked from their home on wifi, which was very fast and reliable. There are many sweet cafes within meters of the apartment, including two of the best coffee shops in BsAs, which is a big deal to me. Maria Jose is very accommodating and I couldn't recommend her more.

Maria Jose's home is a great location to use as your home base in Buenos Aires. From there, you can easily take buses, cabs, and the subway to all parts of the city. It is just a few blocks from Plaza Serrano, and just a 10-15 minute walk to Plaza Italia, where you can catch the underground Subte (Line D), as well as many bus lines. Like to tango? You are within walking distance to Milongas at Villa Malcom (home of the popular Pepa Milonga) and La Viruta on Armenia Street. (No probs coming/going fr the apartment at any hour...) For me, I felt like I was right back in my old NYC Manhattan neighborhood, NoLita next to SOHO! You hit the street and immediately have numerous cafes, grocery stores, a juice bar, restaurants, shops, and more across the street and mere blocks away. Endless options! I recco The Factory juice bar, Magdalena's Party for brunch (Cool art and Julia speaks English! Tell her HI for me!), Manuela Malasana for brunch, Mama Racha/Don Julio/Limbo for dinner...there was so much more I wanted to try. I walked to the Almagro hood (when I had time to spare), Evita Museum, MALBA, the Park area, the Recoleta hood...I def suggest planning what you want to see, then getting very acquainted with bus apps and subway lines and mapping your transportation routes before arriving, then allow enough time to get fr place to place. This will help you spend less on cabs and enjoy your time better/more efficiently. Maria Jose is very willing to help, offer advice, and speaks excellent English! I fell in love with her and her daughter and in a short time, they became like family to me. She is a kindred creative spirit and I enjoyed speaking with her about her costume jewelry designs (came home with a few :D). Next time, I am looking forward to getting to know her and her friends better over dinner and drinks, practicing English and Spanish! Their home is small, but very clean and cozy, and I quickly felt at home. The rooms are side by side, and use accordion doors, but I felt very safe and never uneasy about leaving my personal belongings there. If you are sensitive to sounds, as am I, bring ear plugs for sleeping (I sleep in them as a habit, after living in NYC!). This is a city, after all, and you may hear neighbors in close proximity, the elevator, etc. I highly recco Maria Jose's place as an ideal location (esp single ladies) and if you want to have a very personal experience with wonderful people while in BA! I look forward to my next stay with Maria Jose and Cat!

Maria is a great host, very gentle and helpful! Living in Maria's appartment was very easy and comfortable. And the appartment is just in the middle of beautiful Palermo with its shops, cafees, tango salons. Thank you for everything, Maria

From the beginning, long before my arrival, it was very easy and lovely to communicate with Maria Jose through What's App and email. On the morning of my arrival she had bought Medialunas for me, the typical Croissant like breakfast treat, but most of all we sat down and chatted for a while to get to know one another. The room is exactly as it is pictured, absolutely sufficient and comfortable for one guest! I felt immediately happy and at home in MJ's clean place. Palermo is a fabulous neighborhood, this apartment is in a slightly quieter section between two busier hubs. I could easily walk and use buses from there. Due to our different schedules I had a lot of private time, for example on weekday mornings, when I got up after everybody had left for school and work. Maria Jose was available, easygoing, helpful and very sweet. It's still hard to be back home and not there!

Maria is an excellent host. She is very relaxed and full of smiles and she just spread her arms and said "well this is it. Come and use it". Her place is in the best of areas in B A. I just loved staying there. Just go there, meet a real host and fall in (URL HIDDEN) the area. :-)
