We loved our stay at the historic Stockholm hotel. Rebecca is the perfect hostess -attentive and responsive to all queries (even when very detailed); super helpful with extra charcoal, ice, towels; full of wonderful suggestions of places to eat, hike etc. The hotel/house itself is gorgeous -many original fittings, but well equipped kitchen and two gorgeous bathrooms (there were 9 of us, so that worked ok). The location is one we love - an adorable little village near gorgeous lake Pepin. We grilled out one night, went to the phenomenal harborview restaurant the next, enjoyed a couple of smores around the fire. Such a wonderful stay!

Excellent spot for our large family get together. Host provided us great information about the location and events in the surrounding area during our stay. Beautiful garden and yard with ample space for parking and recreation. Kids and adults loved browsing around the artsy shops. Free bikes were available right off the sidewalk up the street and our group checked out the beach in the campground across the tracks. Some in our group also did a three hour canoe and kayak trip run by a person right in Stockholm. We checked out Maiden Rock Winery/Cidery up the hill too. Lots of fun!

Our group enjoyed the chance to sit out during the evening and share a bonfire together. There was plenty of wood for us! If you choose this place, please be aware that you will need to bring your own coffee/tea. There is a coffeemaker, but no coffee, and there are no shops or cafes in town that open before 10:00 a.m.!

Our family group of 13 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was a great place to hang out altogether between the wedding festivities we were in town for. Rebecca was very helpful in getting us settled in and also in making suggestions for fun things to do and places to eat in the area. The hotel is very charming. We had fun just looking at the decor both inside and outside. We made good use of the piano and the fire pit. Went for a hike to Maiden Rock, rode the free bikes, hung out by the lake and visited a winery. Wish we could have stayed a little longer!

Patty, Thanks for the kind words and for choosing us! Please come back to the area and stay w/ us again! We value your review and experience. I remember the first time w/ had a large group stay from southern fl & virginia! all beautiful southern belle's attending a party at Maiden Rock Winery & Cidery . . .I had no mirrors up yet in the rooms, just the 2 bathrooms!!!! As I walked into the gala party that evening and saw all of the coiffured ladies, I had a sudden cold feeling!!!! OMG---how did they manage to all get so pretty with only 2 bathroom mirrors . . . .I added them asap! and ironing boards and we laughed and are still friends! Thank you for leaving the hotel so TIDY! I loved seeing the picnic tables moved and the fire pit used! and bicycles around! You all were a pleasure to host! We hope you consider us in the future! Sincerely, Rebecca

My book club had a very pleasant 1 night stay. The location is perfect, right in town, close to shops and food and just a short stroll to the Lake. The place was very clean and the kitchen stocked. I would definitely (and may) stay here again!

Emily, Thanks so much for the review, it helps me understand how people feel, since I am not the traveler. You are so specific. I will work on this. I love fires so that old newspaper was by the wood stove, for the fire, but maybe it got moved, and the outside pit, I will burn it down, but for me that is an exciting prospect of burning it! I thought a guest would love it! I will fix the check in time on AIRBNB, I am not a techie, and it did not give me a choice of 3 pm which is our real time if we need to clean between guest groups. Usually I do not accept a one night during the weekend. But because we were on the end of the season I allowed you to do a one night. I really want our guests to have a smooth transition and check in! THANKS YOU! Spatuala must have walked away with someone, but I forget to check those things as I am cleaning! I am so glad you said it was clean! cause I work so hard to make it so! THANKS AGAIN rebecca

We recently had our family reunion at the Stockholm Hotel. There are 5 bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs. There are 2 bathrooms, one on each level. The lower level has a shower and upper level has a free standing tub. It easily sleeps 10-16 people. There is a fully furnished kitchen, so you can prepare and cook your meals. There is a small bar area and ice was provided for us. Towels were also provided in bathrooms. The hotel has a history of being built in the late 1800s and has gone through a few transitions. When first entering you see cozy family style rooms with a hint of antique store smell. Because of its age, the steps are very steep and would not be suitable for the handicapped. A campfire ring was provided in the yard and stacked with wood ready to go. Chairs and tables on the outdoor patio are provided, We enjoyed our coffee out there each morning. Stockholm is small charming river town with much to offer. The proprietor Rebecca was friendly and helpful and always available by phone if needed or have questions. The hotel is close to the railroad tracks and trains speed through with some frequency. We just held our conversation for a couple moments until the train passed and resumed what we were doing. I grew up near railroad tracks, so the trains did not bother me. We did notice a box of ear plugs were provided for lighter sleepers or those not used to train noise. It did not seem that loud indoors during the night. Trains are less frequent during the night. I also reviewed this listing on Trip Advisor.

Our theater company held a retreat here for three nights in the dead of winter. It was a nice place for it, clean and with plenty of beds for our company members. We greatly enjoyed cooking for the whole group in the nice kitchen and dining room. And, since we happened to stay during the coldest weekend of the winter so far, we greatly appreciated the wood burning stove and the stock of wood. Stockholm is a beautiful little town, even when it's frozen over. We didn't get out into it much, considering the wind chill at the time, but the pie shop a few hundred feet from the door was enough enticement. Also not mentioned in the description--but very important to us since we worked on some music this weekend--there is a nice little console piano in the living room.
