Outgoing, energetic, yoga teacher, swimming and tennis lover.
I love to travel, and to meet people. Meeting new guests who come to stay with us is one of the highlights of my week, they're always such pleasant people and so much fun, and I love to share the special places I know on this beautiful island of Crete.
5 things I cannot live without : Just 5? Being surrounded by nature – returning to a large town / city makes me feel gloomy!
My beautiful Greek dog Demelza…
Good food and wine…
My activities – yoga, swimming and tennis.
Favourite travel destinations : other Greek islands and other European countries.
Books : Love to read about other countries / people in different and difficult times and the appreciation that it brings of where we are today.
Music : forever a Rock Chick ! …and everything else that comes along!
Food : Seafood cooked straight from the sea…heaven.
As a host I hope to make people feel at home…we give a generous ‘Welcome Pack’ with our own olive oil, and like to pay attention to detail.
I retired to Crete with my husband in 2004 and have found the relaxed outdoor lifestyle so fulfilling.
Renting out our villa, Oleander, has provided us with many interesting new friends from around the world.
Being able to practice yoga by the pool surrounded by olive trees is very special, as is swimming amidst them. Walking our dog Demelza very early in the morning is again a joy in our wonderful climate. I love to share our home with friends and family and hope that in the future we can welcome many more people to our special place in Crete.
Difficult times surround us all wherever we are in the world – but being in a rural community we can see how Greeks have survived over centuries…growing their own vegetables beneath olive trees, goats, chickens, rabbits and sheep abound on a small scale to provide food for the families…not forgetting the orange and lemon and other fruit trees. Olive trees stretching as far as the eye can see and excellent vineyards with a new generation of people reaching for the stars. Coming from a long line of farmers in the UK, I can truly appreciate how it all works – living with the seasons …and saving for a rainy day!
