This is a unique house in the heart of Montpelier. I have feathered this nest with the wild imaginings of far flung places and antique treasures. I rescued my home from rack and ruin because he was a happy house with a good vibe and because the garden had a miniture woodland. He has been renovated sympathetically and is full of magic and character.
It is a comfortable home with a soul warming open fire in the light filled sitting room that bounces off the inlayed mirror work and a massive sofa to have a cuddle-a-thon. There is also a sofa bed that sleeps two and a single day bed with a pull out trundle bed sleeping two.
On this floor there is another wonderful room with the original stone floor and an antique double bed.
The Rock and Roll Kitchen has hand carved peacock panel doors and a leopard print floor and everything you need to entertain and an infinatly bigger and better table than the one pictured!!! Still please note that this table only seats 10 at a squeeze. I want my house and those in it to enjoy a relaxing living/dancing space rather than a dining room so have not chosen to sacrifice the sitting room. We do however have fold away tables and table cloths that can be easily set up in the sitting room to allow our guests the option of dining together in a fabulous setting.
There is a third bathroom on this floor with a rain water and power shower.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms. One has an antique double bed and an ensuite with a rainwater shower. One has a king sized bed and access to a Jack and Jill family bathroom with a large bath with a rainwater shower over. The other two bedrooms have two single beds in each and one of them has a sink. All are wrapped up in vintage wallpapers and peopled by antiques.
The garden is my favorite work of art. The mini wood is an English faery dell and there is a rose covered terrace for basking in the sun; (the garden is South facing and sheltered); and entertaining. Giving it a drink if its parched will be appreciated.
Montpelier is the artists quarter in Bristol. The house is right in the heart of it; you are two minutes walk to some of the best eats Bristol has to offer; award winning foodie restaurant Bell's Dinner, the award winning cheap eats veggie Thali Cafe, the King of Indian Takeaways The Mela (my favorite) and the fabulous Kath and Kims where Bristol's chefs come for incredible brunches. Another couple of minutes takes you up onto the infamous Stokes Croft where you can rock out at the Croft, reclaim the rave at Lekota, catch the buzz around Hamilton House, feed your face at festival favourites Pieminister and Pokos, and thats just for starters. A ten minute stroll will take you up to Gloucester Road to its independent shops or down to the swanky Cabolt Circus. In and easy twenty minute amble you will reach the Harbourside and Clifton.
We are an automobile hop skip and a jump onto the M32. Bristol has it all; a thriving independant music scene, great galleries, culture for the vultures and fabulous arcitecture. We have circus and world famous theatre, Burlesque and Banksies and a festival most weekends. If you want to explore our amazing part of the country then Bristol is the perfect base. 10 minutes by train or 30 minutes drive will deliver you into Bath. You can be at the seaside in 40 minutes, Glastonbury is an hours drive, as are the Cotswolds and Wales. A couple of hours will take you to Stratford and Devon and London. Alternatively 1 hour and 40 minutes will take you to Paddington and into the gentle jaws of London. Parking is on the street, there is no charge on Saturday and Sunday. The rest of the week there are on street parking charges between 9am and 5pm. If you are staying with us during the week then we can allocate you parking permits but this needs to be discussed and agreed because we have a fixed number of them.
The minimum stay at weekends is two nights at the peak rate of £1500 for two nights.
We can only accept one night bookings if another weekend night has already been taken.
Bank holidays are a minimum 3 nights at the peak rate of £750 per night.
