Naima is a lovely and warm-hearted host who surprised us with Sardinian dolci as we arrived. She was very enthusiastic to show us the house which was even bigger than it looked on the description.
There are three levels: In the ground floor there is the amiable furnished children’s room with 3 beds. The first floor consists of a nice bedroom with a big and comfortable bed and spacious wardrobe. The open stone walls create a rustic and romantic atmosphere. The hall has a oriental sofa and has some nice vintage furniture. The top floor has a huge kitchen and dining table. It is well decorated and has everything you need to have extensive family dinners. Some pots and pans seem to be overused and the refrigerator seems to be old. There’s a nice, but unfurnished balcony with a stunning and simply great view over Santu Lussurgiu. You can even see the Christo on the top of the hill that looks similar to the one in Rio de Janeiro. Also there is a small TV corner with a modern flat screen, two vintage arm chairs and a well-designed chimney that connects the kitchen/TV room with another living room that we seldom used. From this room you reach a small hall with a well-functioning washing machine and finally the small bathroom consisting of a modern shower, washbasin, toilet and bidet. Everything worked fine. Naima provided us a bunch of towels as well as bedclothes. The laundry rack on the balcony was perfect for drying the clothes. In case of need there’s a small cabinet with first-aid supplies.
Santu Lussurgiu is a small town situated in the middle western part of Sardinia. It lies in an inactive volcanic crater with great and unique views from countless places. It still has the atmosphere of a dreamy little town of the Middle Ages. We loved to walk around in the old town and to get lost. The people are very friendly, so after one week almost everyone knew us :)
Naima was so kind and showed us to the next supermarket that is situated on the other side of the village. You can reach it in 5 minutes by car. From Santu Lussurgiu you can reach a lot of interesting places: Oristano is a 40 min drive away, so are the beautiful beaches of the Sinis peninsula. Don’t miss Is Arutas and Putzu Idu, especially if you have children. The famous arch of S’Archittu is really stunning, especially when the sun sets. The ride between Bosa and Alghero is breathtaking. Also take your time to discover some of the beautiful hidden beaches.
All in all, Naima’s house is the ideal place for couples or families who love individual, peaceful and romantic vacations – comfortable, clean, lovely and with a lot of charming details. Absolutely recommendable!
