Your cottage is twenty feet behind my main house, so if you need anything, just knock on the door! I will check in with you to see how you are doing and if you need any recommendations for dinner or your next hike! I have a trained dog that goes out in the back yard as well, so let me know if you would rather have no interaction with her.

Maine 9% lodging tax (on rent only) will be collected by Airbnb. By law, there is no loud partying allowed in Bar Harbor after 10PM and until 7AM. The Police will evict you if there is a problem and there is NO REFUND if they do! This is a NO SMOKING property, but the sidewalk is not too far. No burning of any kind or candles or incense are allowed on the property. Candle-like LED Globe lights are provided as well as aromatherapy sprays. ALL TRASH must be bagged ONLY in the white garbage bags in your cottage before being put in the Outdoor Trash Barrels. DO NOT throw loose cups, cans, or small bags of trash in the Outdoor Barrels. Each full sized official Garbage Bag bag must be FULL; 1/2 full bags or smaller plastic bags found in the Trash Barrels will require you to pay the extra per bag fees charged by the Trash Collectors. Please secure the lock on the barrel so wild creatures are not partying all night while we are trying to sleep!
Good Dogs are considered for a $50 fee for cleaning, which fee must be paid upon arrival in cash. Dogs are welcome within certain parameters: 1. you must quickly pick up their poop in a poop bag and deposit it in the poop barrel; 2. they must be socialized and fairly polite with my dog who shares the yard with them; 3. they must be up to date on their shots, flea protection and TICK protection. 4. Young dogs that have not finished their shot series should NOT travel with you to my cottage; neither should dogs with worms! 5. Just like when you go to a boarding kennel, you need to send me a copy of your proof of vaccinations, and flea and tick control from your vet (or a store purchase receipt with with the name of the product on it) before you arrive. I will contact you about how to get this to me prior to your arrival.
I have a 6' fence around the yard, so no deer enter the yard. However, after dark they do roam up and down our street, munching on shrubs and dropping ticks on lawns and sidewalks. Needless to say, they do the same in Acadia. So even if you walk your dog only on sidewalks, you are exposing them to ticks and they need protection!
Humans and Tics: It is recommended by the State of Maine that you wear light colored clothing and tuck pant legs into socks when hiking in the woods and inspect yourself closely for tics when returning from the outdoors.

We loved our time at Bar Harbor. Robin was helpful, friendly, and very nice to chat with. Despite our less than stellar weather, the park was amazing and we really enjoyed a few great meals out in Bar Harbor!

Robin was very available and accommodating, even when we arrived later than anticipated. She was wonderful at giving us recommendations for things to do in Bar Harbor. We really appreciated her breakfast and coffee recommendations - delicious! We LOVED her dog, Lilly. Such a sweetheart.

Robin is such a kind and accommodating host. She greeted us on arrival and showed us how everything in the cottage worked. My dad had suffered a back injury earlier in the week and was not able to get up into the loft - which is truly crawl space only. Robin was so sweet to help us with our sleeping arrangement and made sure we had all the correct size sheets and blankets so he could sleep in the main room. Robin loves to share her knowledge of the island and went over several maps with us, pointing out all the fun things to see and do nearby. We especially appreciated her instructions regarding locations on Cadillac Mountain for viewing sunrise and sunsets. The location was convenient, water pressure was great, the parking was right out front in the street, the kitchen was stocked with all kinds of pots/appliances/gadgets, and the heater worked well. This is a no-frills, simple and relaxed place. We felt like price for this place was high compared to some of the other more "boutique" type places we stayed, but understand Mount Desert Island attracts many tourists which is reflected in the prices.

Robin was a wonderful host. I found the cottage to be accurately described, definitely cozy. Myself, my husband & our 50lb dog fit comfortably. You cannot beat this location, 5-8 minute walk into the liveliness of Bar Harbor, and a quick drive to Acadia! Robin was very helpful with things to do & suggestions. We arrived earlier than check in and she guided us on what to stop at, and unfortunately it rained a day of our stay and she was full of ideas for inclement weather. We very much enjoyed our stay in Bar Harbor and would love to return one day!

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! This entire experience was a nightmare and almost ruined our vacation. The final straw was when Robin informed us >24 hours into our stay (forfeiting any chance at refund) that her dog would be undergoing chemotherapy and would be "toxic" to humans, especially pregnant women. She didn't think this would be pertinent information to provide to a newlywed couple of child-bearing age? The studio and her house share a backyard, and in order to leave the studio you have to walk through this shared space, where her dog is usually hanging out. My husband and I were extremely upset that she did not tell us this before our trip. We called Airbnb to complain, but they assured us that it was "safe" (even though they are not medical professionals, my husband and I are both physicians) and that they could not provide us with a refund. We left right then and got a hotel room, losing about $1200. I wish this was the only thing that was wrong with our stay... When we first arrived, it was 3am after a late flight. Robin didn't bother to leave any outside lights on, so we were struggling in the cold and dark for almost 20 minutes with all our bags to get in through the gate, which is broken and only unlocks with significant effort. We entered the house to find it covered in index cards with things you can't do - such as open the windows and where not to put things. The next morning, I was in the studio in a towel and I hear Robin trying to get into the front door without knocking, and see her peering into the window at me! Luckily I had the door locked! We were there for roughly 36 hours and she tried to come in 3 times. We got chastised for opening the windows when it was too warm inside, and were told we would be charged a fee for letting bugs in. We just wanted some fresh air!! In the end, we lost $1200 and 2 days of our trip. Airbnb was unwilling to help or mediate, and we felt that Robin was rude, intrusive, and put us at risk - and airbnb did nothing to help. This was such a terrible experience we will no longer be using airbnb. It is not worth the stress or money. There are plenty of hotels in bar harbor that are cheaper and provide a much more pleasant experience. Sorry if this seems like a rant, but we don't want anyone else to go through what we did, losing a significant amount of money and vacation time. The stress alone almost ruined the trip.

A cozy and delightful spot, only a short walk from the heart of bar harbor, with Acadia basically in the back yard. Had a great time.
