Le logement

Gorgeous very private and fully remodeled two bedroom home full of light and natural wood, with spectacular view on all sides!

Enjoy the detached meditation studio or as a guest room separate from main house. Step out the door to the sight of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, lush farmlands and the Straits of Juan de Fuca as you take beautiful and historical trails to water nearby on Ebey's National Park Reserve adjoining the property.

Your well appointed home away from home is close to the small historical town of Coupeville. The town and the Prairie are rich in history. Gaze out the window at the bald eagles and the historical 1854 Jacob Ebey home, as well as the Issac Ebey house farther on. Walk the beach and tidal estuary, or spend time on the bluff and the forest nearby. Visit local restaurants, galleries and wineries. Or just come to rest and enjoy the quiet, the fresh air.
Contact Claire to see about making arrangements. All inquiries welcome.
There is a large deck with barbeque overlooking the water and the mountains. A NO pet policy is in place and preference for no small children. The new Eastern Pine floors, heated from below are partial to soft soled shoes.
The Wolf stove is partial to creative cooks. We would welcome small weddings or someone seeking a corporate getaway.

Think peaceful, and also a great value.

Accès des voyageurs

When guests book the house, basically the whole house is theirs. Generally, the office area and laundry are not used. The studio can be used as a separate room for added guests. Usage can be discussed and personalized.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I usually meet and greet the guests and show them around and give them a little history of the area. Also I show them a few details about the house. If I can't be here, which is not that often,
I have my neighbor meet and greet who lives privately but nearby.

Autres remarques

The house sleeps six people very comfortably.
One or two guests would sleep in the studio that is detached from the main house but just a few feet away. The guests love it as it is a very cozy, private room with great views also.

To be discussed. No high heels, only soft soled shoes, if any. If attending weddings, high heels and hard soles are just slipped on at the main door. Not a problem.
Basically, I ask that people be careful of the wood. I ask that you only respect and treat the house with care. Well behaved children might be accepted but not really a house for children. We worked very hard and there is a lot of love for the place. Most suitable for romantic getaways, walking and resting. Small corporate stays acceptable too. No pets.

The location is just wonderful and Claire is super nice. The house is magical, dream house of many people. Claire did a wonderful job and I understand why she is so careful with the place. We had a great time there. Keep in mind at the time we booked that there were only 2 Bedrooms (and not 3 Bedrooms as mentioned on the listing). Since we ended up being only 2 couples that worked fine. Also Claire does not stay in the house but stayed on-site so if you expect privacy and have a entire house, this is not the case. This is in the middle of an entire house and a shared house. Airbnb should create a new listing type.

Arnaud, The office, which is a separate and private room is the third bedroom! It has a super expensive, deluxe fold out couch that turns into a queen bed! That now is considered the third bedroom in the house. If people want to rent the studio, including the whole house, it is possible. In the past I considered the studio as the third bedroom if needed before I got the deluxe couch. There are many options at my house and it all depends on how many people are expected to stay. It's kind of complicated, therefore I kept the three bedroom description on the website because there are actually four bedrooms if it is arranged. All different scenarios.

This property is bright, open, lovingly maintained, with tasteful décor and a stunning view. The location is fantastic, the master bedroom is very comfortable; and the kitchen is well-equipped. Two aspects may not please other renters: (1) it's adjacent to a walking path for the National Park, so there are hikers within earshot and view almost constantly; and (2) the owner is on site and ever-present. During our stay, she slept in the "guest house" a few yards from our master bedroom and she used the master bathroom connected to the main home. She was perfectly polite and respectful, but not all guests are comfortable with having their hosts shower and bathe in the bathroom with a shared wall to the renter's master bedroom. It's an unusual arrangement and not for everyone. Overall, it's a reasonable compromise to experience a few days on a beautiful property in comfortable and tasteful surroundings.

I have not ever had any complaints about the separate, private master bathroom being used. I think Lisanne should have been a bit more clear. The walls are not adjacent to the master bedroom. There is a whole 10 foot closet and vanity area between where the guests stay and is made private by sound proof insultation and two solid wood doors between the room which she mentions. The studio that I stay in has it's own toilet so the bathroom is not frequented that often for that exact reason. I cannot hear anything in the main house from that bathroom. I leave the property often when my guests are present or I stay in the studio which is completely private. The walkers on the trail at the reserve only see me from my house, IF, I am OUTSIDE on the west deck from approximately 250 yards distance, otherwise, visually private. The area is very open and may have that feeling that Lisanne had , at first. Actually most guests come here because of the openness and the ability to run or walk, right out the door. Her party was not interested in that. The weekend that Lisanne's party was here was one of the last sunny weekends of the season. There did seem to be a lot of people hiking that weekend but they don't see my property except where I mentioned. This spot is very quiet.

Claire's house is one of only a few (only 6) properties that overlook Ebey's Landing. The view from her window filled livingroom/kitchen is arguably the best on all of Whidbey. Steps to the incredible bluff trail, close to Coupeville and the small red apple market, the location is very convenient. Claire is definitely passionate about her place, keeping it clean, and Whidbey island in general. She shared a bunch of the local history with us during our stay. She also let us have her reservation at the Oystercatcher restaurant. A must when in Coupeville. Lovely stay.

Another great stay with one of the best views on the island.

Claire has a beautiful home with an exceptional location. The house is situated adjacent to Ebey's Landing National Historic Preserve. The views are spectacular: boats on Puget Sound, picturesque farm fields, and birds and rabbits in the yard. The trail to the beach and bluff is right out the door. Whidbey Island has numerous additional walking and hiking areas: Deception Pass state park; Fort Ebey state park; and Fort Casey state park. Claire has a set of house rules that are straightforward: no shoes in the house, no eating in the living room, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary. While we were there, Claire was away and so we had our privacy.

Hi Carol, I just felt the need to say to folks out there and you, that if I was here on the property during your stay, you will or would still get your privacy! The little building is separate from the main house and no one can here a thing from both places. I had one woman who talked me into letting her stay with her three little kids as she stated that her kids were exceptionally well behaved which proved to be the opposite. The youngest one screamed bloody murder the whole time they were home and it was extremely hot that week, so all of our windows were open! The parents and I were anxious. That was the only time that I have heard people in the house. It was a mistake. I don't allow young children here anyway, somehow I got talked into it! Ha. There are also little sitting areas outside that are private as well! Cheers Claire

Claire's place is great and I would highly recommend staying here. The location could not have been better. And, the house is really nice. Although, I would have enjoyed our stay more if I hadn't been anxious about our kids making too much noise. Claire was a great host and we enjoyed our talks with her.

Glass of wine on the deck to view the water and mountains? Eat outside in the courtyard? Rest or read a book! Cook in my great kitchen! We have outside fire pots or pits. Take a walk in the woods, find old barns! I would enjoy meeting you and can tell you a lot about central Whidbey Island present and past. I have lived on Whidbey most of my life and I have stories, all kinds! If you like to walk, there are endless options. The beach, the bluffs, the woods and even to town are all outside our door, no car needed! There are two historic old homes, one being the second oldest in the state of Washington right in our view.
