Country comfort in a two bedroom house, artfully decorated, in a riparian setting by the San Francisco River. Peaceful environment, privacy, with horses, a large organic garden, fruit trees, pottery studio, and lots of wildlife.

Le logement

We are located along the San Francisco River, in Pleasanton, NM. The home was formerly a gallery, and Jude's clay art as well as work by other local artists is displayed throughout. Simple, 2-bedroom house has a kitchen and a private bath with shower. Great birding opportunities from your porch. Large organic garden with fresh produce in season, and lots of butterflies. Cool mornings and warm afternoons most of the year. You can meet our Colonial Spanish Barb horses. They are desert hardy and good on rocky ground, and stand just 13-3 hands. Ours belong to the Wilbur Cruce strain.

Accès des voyageurs

Jude works in her clay studio, and has indoor and outdoor kilns. Frequent evening raku firings are fun to watch.

I can sign under all precedent positive reviews. Some details to add. The tomatoes, squash, cucumbers and fresh eggs provided were delicious. The condiments to cook them were high quality. Usually I don't like to cook during my vacation, but here I couldn't help, so appealing and healthy everything was. Oh, and we were eating the tiny grape tomatoes directly from the vine by our door. Jude provided additional electrical air mattress for our additional kid. We had plenty comforters and pillows, for every sleeping taste and habit. Every evening we enjoyed bonfire. Children and our dog enjoyed big well decorated yard, and the sight of horses and ducks nearby. Beautiful secluded place, but close to many activities to fill several days.

Lovely stay for anyone heading through Gila or in the area. Clean and comfortable house with a great vibrant owner. We loved the fresh veggies and eggs for breakfast they provided straight from their garden. We stopped by to star gaze at cosmic campground near by, suitable to a quiet serene escape if you're looking for that.

What a find! Jude's place is tucked away in a charming area of western New Mexico where you can completely relax and unwind. The house is quite private on their small ranch, but we felt connected via the hosts' wifi to the "outside" world. We met the horses and the family dog, all of whom welcomed us as warmly as the hosts. It was so enjoyable to cook in the well-appointed kitchen, and we especially enjoyed the garlic and sun-dried tomatoes from their garden, as well as the yummy duck eggs. We had a great time in Jude's art gallery and chose a wonderful piece for our home. Peter drew us a map to the river, and steered us in the right direction to the "Catwalk", which was a very cool experience. Don't miss it! Also, check out the goats' milk soap and body products at "Udder Delight", just up the road - one-stop shopping for yourself and anyone dear to you. We will be back to visit Jude and Peter's place!

We were dying to escape the Tucson summer heat for a weekend and wanted to avoid the over-priced Pinetop/ShowLow area or the long drives all the way up to Flagstaff. We decided to try out the Gila Forest area, which we didn't previously know too much about. We are SO grateful that we did!! We had an absolutely amazing weekend. First, the scenery is gorgeous and the climate soo perfect. We enjoyed cool mornings for walking the very nearby Catwalk Trail, perfect evenings for hanging out on Jude and Peter's beautiful property, as well as warm afternoons perfect for wading in the very nearby river. Jude and Peter could not have been more gracious hosts -- they warmly welcomed our family circus (including a rambunctious toddler and 2 curious dogs) and made us feel right at home. Our son loved petting the horses and watching the ducks run around their coop. We enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the setting. The house itself is SO much larger than we expected (with 2 big bedrooms, a spacious kitchen with a stovetop and full-sized fridge for all our snacks), and a living room area to hang out in and play games). The location is quite remote (don't count on grocery stores or restaurants) but this just adds to the serenity. We will absolutely be back for another much-needed getaway! Thank you, Jude and Peter!!

The warmth and easy communication of our hosts can't be overstated. And the lively art that permeated even the built-ins at our well-appointed cottage added greatly to our enjoyment of our trip. Sitting on the porch swing watching hummingbirds flit among the generous flowerbeds in front of us was a worthy occupation all on its own. But wandering along/in the nearby San Francisco River in the cool of the evening, under towering cottonwoods and surrounded by birdsong, was our personal highlight--thanks to our hosts for letting us know that particular little Eden was nearby and recommended.
