À propos de ce logement

Immerse your self in the beauty of a 18th century villa and its gardens. Enjoy the breath taking view of two gulfs and the blue of the Mediterranean Sea. Live the Sicily of the Gattopardo.

Le logement

Located in an historical dwelling, close to Palermo city. The apartment is located in the beautiful contest of Villa Valguarnera which belongs to The Alliatas, a family of Tuscan and Sicilian nobility, of ancient Pisan origins, barons and princes of Villafranca, Duke of Salaparuta.
Choosen by the most eminent film makers to be the set of many short film.
Its suggestive set inspired the great Tornatore to shoot the last spot of D&G's parfum "Dolce Rosa Excelsa". Sophia Loren herself acted in the spot, and fell in love with the magnificent atmosphere of Villa Valguarnera.
Ennio Morricone took part in the making, taking care of the soundtrack and marring the magic spirit of the place. In other words.... beyond magic!

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We interact with guests as much as they are willing to. If we are at home and they have time, we like to welcome them in the main part of the villa and offer them a drink, making them visit a property otherwise normally closed to the public. But we also like to leave them on their own to relax.

Autres remarques

Those who come fall in love with the Villa. It is one of the most important monuments in Sicily and we, who run it and live in it, are the same family who built this place. Everyone who comes and stays with us will be treated like a guest and a friend.

Communication with Giada (for arranging our arrival, booking airport transfers and a Mt Etna tour) was easy and friendly. Filippo, the caretaker, was lovely and helpful though it helps to have had a couple of Italian speakers in our group. Princess Vittoria is a wonderful lady and such a pleasure to meet with and we were so pleased to take the tour of the palace and learn about the incredible family and palace history as well as the wondrously varied plants in the garden. The apartment is a part of the palace, just beside the main building. It was a dream to wake up and see our surroundings in the morning and to look out of our windows at the garden, through some bougainvillea, and see a glimmer of the sea and mountains at a distance. A beautiful and historic place to stay, there's nothing quite like it! As a group of friends, we were extremely charmed and impressed and are more than likely hoping to come back ourselves and stay for longer next time!

The 300-hundred-years-old Villa Valquarnera was a surprising place to us. We had not expected that the villa is such a historical and memorable place brefore we arrived. The villa was also very comfortable. Vittoria and Filippo were so kind that we did not have any problem with our staying. This villa is a "must" when you stay at Palermo or Bagheria.

Two days we spent at the villa were quite extraordinary. The building itself was wonderful and so were the surrounding gardens with mesmerizing views at the seashore. We could easily move back in time three hundred years and imagine how modern Sicilians' ancestors used to live here. Still, the rooms' standard was really good and we had everything we needed. We are very grateful to Princess Vittoria for making the villa accessible and to Filippo for his support and hospitality. We should have stayed for two weeks rather than two days, the mistake we are willing to fix in the future!

This was the most impressive Airbnb we have done! The Villa was amazing and huge. Princess Vittoria was super nice and there was no difficulties in communication because she can speak at least 4 languages. We arrived late (10pm) and felt hungry, so she called the nearby restaurant to inform them our arrival. The restaurant was fancy and we had such great time there! In the morning we explored the Villa, and Princess Vittoria invited us for her homemade lemon tea, which was very refreshing and tasty. She told us some interesting Sicily history and politics. She also gave us so many information around the area , like how to get to places, and where to see/eat. I really wish we could stay longer in this place. And I would definitely recommend everybody who visits Sicily to come stay here!
