2-room suite with private bath, in unique custom architect-designed post-and-beam country home. On a 10-acre private estate overlooking a 1/2 acre pond, teaming with wildlife, high atop a hill with stunning panoramic views of distant mountains. We also offer an optional spa package.

Our guest suite has its own private interior entrance and consists of a bedroom, sitting room, private full bath and small hallway. We only host one reservation at a time so there are no other guests.
The bedroom has an antique 4-poster double bed with featherbed and vintage Laura Ashley linens. A large awning window looks out on the view (new photo coming, it's a new window!) and more light streams though a 2nd window and skylight. There is a wall-mounted flat-screen tv with built-in DVD player and a Bose radio with CD player. The adjoining sitting room has a sofa and computer with internet access and DVD player. Wifi is accessible throughout the house and on the deck. All rooms have individual thermostats you can set to your own comfort level. Enjoy our main floor living room with comfy sofas in front of the fireplace, flat screen tv and DVD player.

~ Fishing in our bass-stocked pond
~ Boating on the pond (we have a rowboat)
~ Continental breakfast (typically fresh fruit, cured meats and cheeses, cereal, coffee/tea, and pastry, toast, English muffins or bagels.)
~ Free wifi accessible throughout the property
~ Free phone calls to 50 states + Puerto Rico
~ Free computer with wired internet for your use
~ DVD library with 200+ titles
~ Down or synthetic pillows available (down unless otherwise requested)
~ Off-street parking

Enjoy some romance in our brand new hot tub, located on the deck with a view. Includes:
~ Bottle of chilled champagne (usually Frexinet)
~ Use of 100% Turkish cotton full-length robes; robes are double layer with waffle weave outside, lined with absorbent terrycloth inside
~ Use of ultra soft and absorbent 100% cotton oversize towels

[See our "GUIDEBOOK" section for more ideas]
~ 5 minutes from Ski Sundown (downhill skiing)
~ Farmington River, famous for fly-fishing and river tubing
~ New Hartford center... historic, quaint and Victorian
~ State boat launch on beautiful West Hill Lake
~ New Hartford is home to 2 wineries, with 3 more within 15-minutes; there are now 25 wineries on the CT Wine Trail!
~ Enjoy top-notch New England fall foliage with our superb panoramic view!

We encourage our guests to enjoy the living room, sunroom, deck and yard. Use of the deck's hot tub is included in our additional "Spa Package" [see that section for details]. Most of our guests enjoy feeding the chipmunks on the deck - we'll supply the seed (they may eat right out of your hand). In the living area for your enjoyment are a fireplace, flat-screen tv, DVD player and our DVD library. Our panoramic view can also be enjoyed from chairs in the sunroom -- especially nice in inclement weather. The 'overlook' in the yard has a sitting area with a chiminea (if you're in the mood for an outdoor fire); it's a nice spot to enjoy a glass of wine at sunset. Feel free to chill beverages or perishables in the refrigerator. Just ask if you have need for ice, ice bucket, beverage glasses, corkscrew, firewood (for the living room fireplace or chiminea), or for deck chair cushions if they've been stored away.

We strive to find the right balance between welcoming our guests and interacting with them, and respecting their privacy. We generally take cues from our guests. We enjoy meeting the diverse and interesting people we host!

This is secluded countryside with no neighborhood per se. We think that's the attraction of the property, and it's geared for those seeking relaxation and nature. There are restaurants and and shopping centers conveniently located 5 miles away.

There is little public transport in the area. There are train stations in Waterbury (@ 25 minutes from us by car) and Hartford (@40 minutes by car). There is bus service from Hartford to the area but not within walking distance of the house.

My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Laura and Lee. Two of the most charming, generous, intriguing hosts you'd ever encounter. Their post and beam style home sitting on 10 acres of wooded heaven was a perfect relaxing getaway that left us wanting more. The description in the write-up was very accurate. Already looking forward to another visit. Thanks so much for your hospitality!

My boyfriend and I had an amazing weekend at Laura and Lee's lovely home. Very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating- overall extraordinary hosts. The house itself is a gem as it offers beautiful views of the surrounding woods and pond. Do yourself a favor and unplug from technology!! Enjoy the warmth of their fireplace, catch the sunset on their deck, or simply stargaze. We plan to book at this AirBnB again in the near future.
